I am working on my guest list. We really want to keep it under 150. Someone once told me a % that you should factor in that will RSVP 'No'. Does anyone know what that is? I am trying to keep it to close family and friends, becuase of this I think most people will come. What was eveyones experience?

Re: Guest List
they say 20%... but its obviously different for everyone some have more some have less... but it seems to be a good rule of thumb... most people come pretty close to it

Re: Guest List
We have an A list ... then a B and C list! So our A will get the Save the Dates and then the others we will wing! LoL
They say 20% but from looking at our list and those who we already spoke to I doubt we'll have that many say no!

Re: Guest List
it could be anywhere from 10-30% so they say 20%
but don't count on that bc its not a definite

Re: Guest List
PS - a lot of people have a 'B' list and they get invited based on the number of people rsvp'ing no

yes 20% is true for most. I think looking at our guest list, we'll come in at around that %.

Re: Guest List
I'm still waiting for 'No's' . We got 'yes' responses from people I was sure were not going to come. So far out of 165 invited we have 70 yes and 0 no

Re: Guest List
Thanks! When it comes to the bridal shower, do you only invite your A list people? I have two lists, but I keep moving people to the A list, because I feel weird not inviting people to the shower, but then inviting them to the wedding

Re: Guest List
if you expect most people to say yes, then i'd assume only 10% no's ....
that said, we invited mostly family and friends (and and a few of MIL's friend) and had a 30% no rate.
it's really different for everyone so it's impossible to answer, unfortunately.

not everybody you invite to the wedding gets invited to the shower or e-party

if you're inviting them to your shower, you need to invite them to your wedding too .... but not vice-versa (i had a very small shower so most of the wedding guests were not invited to the shower)

Re: Guest List
I know, but it is hard to draw the line. My mom keeps saying send an invit to so and so, but they prob will not come becuase they are out of state. With my luck everyone will come. It would be great, but expensive...lol

I have this same question! I have some friends I definitely want to invite to the bridal shower but am not surre if they can get an invite to the wedding for obvious reasons but they are on my 'B' list. Can I invite them to the shower?

you cant invite someone to a shower or e-party and not invite them to the wedding (unless there was a falling out)
you can invite them to the wedding and not the shower or e-party tho

Re: Guest List
Ya I agree. You can not invite someone to the shower if they are not on your A list. This is why my A list keeps growing.

Re: Guest List
Typically it's 20% but i think that also depends on how many people you're inviting!
If you're 150 is a list of close friends & family like you said. Almost everyone will be there so you might have less than 20% no's. If your 150 includes co-workers; distance friends; parents friends etc. You might get more No's.
