Guest List For Bridal Shower Question

Guest List For Bridal Shower Question

I know this has probably been discussed before however - I have to submit a list to my MOH for the shower - I know my OOT guests probably won't be able to attend - however do I send them an invitation anyway? Or will they think I am just trying to get another gift out of them or that I really do want to include them??

We ran into this problem too! My mom is throwing my shower and thought we should invite OOT guests so they wouldn't feel excluded...but I knew most won't be able to make it from out of town and I didn't want them to think I was just looking for a gift. In the end we decided to just invite them so they wouldn't feel as if we were picking and choosing and that they didn't 'make the cut'.

I spoke to my mom about this before I gave her a list..... She said not to invite OOT guests, because even though they obviously can't make it, they'll feel obligated to still send a gift. These people are already spending $$ to fly out for the wedding, and give a wedding gift - I don't think anybody will have qualms about not being invited to something they obviously can't come to.

I stuck the list to people in the NY / CT / NJ / PA area...

Re: Guest List For Bridal Shower Question

my mom and MOH are inviting only the OOTers that they know would be offended if they didn't get an invite... there are several that aren't getting an invite so it doesn't look like we are asking for gifts!!

Re: Guest List For Bridal Shower Question

All of our guests are in the tri state area except a few family members. What we decided is to not invite OOT's except for my aunt and cousin in California who ALREADY sent presents. I will be opening them at the shower (I can't believe I haven't ripped them open already!) so I thought they should 'officially' be invited.

For everyone else, I did not want to invite them because I thought it's obvious they wouldn't be able to come and didn't want them to feel obligated to send a gift.

I had the same problem...we sent the invite and obviously they could not make it but it made them feel included and they sent their gifts instead some are bringing the shower gift with the wedding gift when they come for the wedding.

I only gave my MOH people who I was close with. I didn't want to invite OOT'ers or people I have never met that are coming to the wedding on my FH's side. Just didn't want to make anyone feel uncomfortable
