Guest List Format- question about keeping it organized!

Guest List Format- question about keeping it organized!

OK so I am trying to finish adding addresses to my guest list and organizing it.

Fh started it on an excel spreadsheet. Which I am fine with, but I find it sort of confusing and too much to look at haha. He has things highlighted etc its too much!

So I am just wondering how everyone is organizing their guests lists. And if you are doing it on Excel how are you setting it up? Are you making one column for last name of guest/first name/address/ etc

trying to find the best way to keep it organized!! TIA!!!

I did mine on excel but my mom bought a program. I can get the name of it for you but shes at work righ tnow.. my excell worksheet has the guests name and address and another column that states whether they are coming to the wedding and how many are attending and a final column that states a gift or amount of money they gave us just to keep record of it!

I have mine in MS Word. I have the list in alphabetical order : guest names and then adress. On the right I have this list
_STD sent
--Invitation sent
---RSVP received-
--Thank You sent

Works for me

Re: Guest List Format- question about keeping it organized!

I have mine in Excel.

First column is Last name, first name (same column).
Second column is address.
Third, second line of address (if applicable)
Fourth-City, state, zip
Fifth, # invited
Sixth - Yes
Seventh- No
Eight- Gift sent? (and what it was)
Ninth- Thank you sent?

I also have another column called Guest Of? Not necessary, but I used this for RSVP follow-up so I knew if it was a guest of mine, my mom's my dad's, FH's, FH's mom, FH's dad. And I would put Alissa, Alissa/M (if it was my mom's guest), Alissa/D (if it was my dad's guest), Jimmy (my fh), Jimmy/M, Jimmy/D, etc.

I use excel all the time so I'm used to it. I didn't highlight anyone until it was late in the RSVP game, I highlighted those we hadn't heard from (and still haven't heard from ). As I get answers, I un-highlight them. I also used all the guest corresponding numbers on the spreadsheet to number their RSVPs.

oh that is very organized as well...def what i am looking for. um yeah my FH had it like this:

First Column: Guest Last Name
Second: Guest First Name and right under it was their guest's name if invited (but that confused me with all the spaces)

Third: Address
Fourth: City, State, Zip
Fifth: Relation to us
Sixth: Invite sent
Seventh: RSVPed

yeah, try to keep everything on one line for excel...Remember the lines can be as long as you want, but when you start putting more than one row to one guest, it can get confusing.
If I had someone with guest I would just word it like this:
Smith, John & Jane Doe
This way I knew they weren't married. Otherwise they'd be Smith, John and Jane.
And if you're inviting their kids on the same invite I'd write:
Smith, John and Jane; Micheal and Sue.
Also, you know your guests, so you don't necessarily need to spell it out to yourself, so to speak. You know John Smith and that he's bringing Jane Doe. You won't get confused if they're both on the same line.

I use the knot b/c you can separate out 'bride family guest' 'groom family guest' shower guests, not yet responed and export it all into Excel and have only the info you want. Im pretty sur eyou can import the guest list into their system from excel also.

I only really use: names, address, rsvp
