Guest List Fustrations

Guest List Fustrations

I think we have 80% finalized the guest list and we are up to 195. FH family is 59 people (including children) I know we have to send out the invites because that's how is family is but I pray that his cousins (and their kids) can't all make it. Otherwise I will be drowning in debt. Ugh!

We are in Staten Island and all of his family is out of town. A small number upstate and many in Texas, Vegas California. Does anyone know what is a realistic estimate of No's for that many out of towners? (We do have some OOT friends as well.)

Thanks!

the best advice i was told was 'think of everyone as a 'yes' cause you can be shocked at the outcome'

there is still time before the invites go out and im sure the list will get 'finalized' at least 3 more times till then. try not to let it get you too stressed just yet.

we had a lot of out-of-town guests (florida, california, DC, upstate NY), and of the 200 ppl we invited, 140 people came, so about 30% couldn't make it. the fact that our wedding was on a sunday evening (6:30-midnight) may have also played a role in having a higher decline rate.

Welcome to the story of my life! More than half of our guest list is from OOT -- we live abroad, FH's family isn't from NY, and most of our friends from school have scattered around the globe.

Ask your FILs what they think. They might have an idea of how many went the last family event, or how many might travel for yours.

Oh wow! Do you think you will have a lot of no's?

Thanks ladies for your replies. I just needed to get that vent out. We will have his parents talk to family to get an idea. It was on my mind since we will be looking to get our save the dates when we are Buffalo next week (my FBIL is designing them for us) So I think once we send the STDs we may have a better idea as well.

The last family function a majority of those invited showed BUT that was on the West Coast.

I am in the same boat as about 30% of our list is OOT, and couple that with the fact that I am getting married on the Sunday evening of July 4th weekend.... we dont have a CLUE on what to expect.

We are hoping to stay near our guarantee number, but if we go under that would be JUST fine. lol

Yup, I'm counting on a lot of no's. I think a fair amount of family will travel. But most of my friends here (in England) are poor students, and it's a pretty far trip for FH's friends and coworkers in Asia.

England? Asia? WOW!!!!
