OKay - So I've decided I cannot invite everyone I want to with a guest.....
Here is the issue - Some of my friends that have Significant others I'd like to invite with a guest and those who do not will not be invited with a guest...(my issue is that they are the same group of friends)
In your opinion -- IS this rude and what would you do if you were me???

That's what we're doing. As long as they are going to know other people there and they won't be the only one without a guest then I don't see a problem with it.

That's fine... why pay for someone who you don't even know and possibly may never see again. That's about $150 per person.

Re: Guest List Help (BHB Repost)
this is one of those truly touchy subjects that can be so hard to figure out!
for us, we invited all singles with a guest, only because i myself would HATE to be invited to a wedding alone, even if my friends are there, cause i would feel like a 3rd wheel to all the couples.
but many of our single guests, have responded that they aren't bringing anyone anyway! so it's totally up to you on what you want to do.

nope, it isn't rude at all. We are doing the same thing. At first, FH had an issue with it (because it was some of his friends), but I explained it all to him and he agrees. People will understand as long as they have other friends there to hang out with.

This is always so uncomfrotable !! I was a BM in my friends wedding this past august and NOTE she did not invite me with my FH who was my fiance at the time. So that made me think ya know what its ur wedding u do what u have to do, no one truly has a say in anything having to do with it.

It gets outta hand doesn't it lee?? haha.. once you start writing out everyones name, your like ddammn. How many people is there?!
I'm still undecided about the RD.
I was annoyed bc at the engagement party, my fsil brought her bf, and joe's cousin didn't have a date so she brought fsil guy friend. That bothered me, don't invite someone just to invite them bc you don't have a date.

this is my opinion exactly
as someone else once put it.....it's expensive to pay for someone's flavor of the week to be at your wedding

FH and I discussed this- We decided that if they had a significant other (girlfriend/boyfriend) then we would invite them if they didnt, then we would not invite them with a guest. I dont want to pay for someone that I do not know and I dont want anyone to feel obligated to bring a guest!

Re: Guest List Help (BHB Repost)
I'm picking and choosing, its the only way to afford to have all our friends there... im letting them know before hand and if someone gets a serious SO in the next 4 months ill be happy to add a +1... but for now just engaged, living toghter or married buddies get to bring thier peeps

we're inviting everyone 21+ with a guest, but that was just our choice.... i don't think its rude if you only invite people in serious relationships with guests -- im sure that people will understand!

Re: Guest List Help (BHB Repost)
Unless you have more money than Donalt Trump, you should invite only those who are engaged or living together with guests......that was even on In Style Weddings on TV yesterday!!! They had a whole special on etiquette. Its considered tacky to make your wedding a 'night on the town' with strangers.....everyone should know the bride.

Re: Guest List Help (BHB Repost)
This is a tough one. i will tell you how we did it so no one had their feelings hurt b/c I agree that I am not the person to say whether 2 people are serious serious or not.
We did our list on excel-those that were married we did obviously as 2 people. Then we did those that we knew had long time gf/bf/fiance/fiancee...etc. THen those that had s/o's that have been around for a good time, then those that had s/o's for a shorter amount of time and then those just may bring a random person were single. After doing each group of people we would add up our total until we were at a number that wasnt so hideous.
It helped ALOT! Good Luck i hope you figure it out

That's what we are doing. Otherwise our list would be over 260 and we wouldn't be able to fit in our hall.
