I am strongly considering cutting my guest list by a lot of people.....people that I was close to when we announced our engagement....but now 7 months later I have not spoken to them...most of these people assume they are invited.....what do I do??? I don't want to offend them, but if I can only guarantee 150 then I really need to cut!!!! I don't want these people to think I am a mean crazy bridezilla, I just really want to watch money and the list .....HELP!

no really I think you are fine b/c 1, if you are not that close to them anymore they should be okay but just explain to them that you are having budget issues and would love to have them there but can't. I think i'ts more common than you think ..

I am absolutely cutting out anyone I haven't talked to since the engagement. I really only want people I know and talk to on a regular basis at my wedding.
You shouldn't feel bad at all. Its a lot of money to have people @ your wedding that aren't really a part of your life. You have to do what you can afford and what makes you happy!

I agree with everyone on here....Before I got engaged ( 6 days ago) I always said 150 people is a nice number...then you get to making the list and it's 250! You can cut people that you haven't spoken to. I found when people find out that your engaged they come out of the wood works and then you feel to invite them because they called...do what you have to do and the people who mean the most and are a part of your life will be there!
MY FML has a list of 102...we need to work on cutting that

Did you send them save the dates? Then I think it's harder not to invite them because they're expecting an invitation. Otherwise, I think you can not invite them and don't really owe them an explanation. If you haven't talked to them since the engagement, I wouldn't call them especially to let them know they are no longer invited to the wedding, you know?
I have those people on my current list who I'm not sure I'll still be close with in 8 or 9 months. So I'm not sending them save the dates. I can always send them an invitation, but I can't take back a STD, you know?

listen ... if you have to cut you have to cut! thats life ... people need to realize that you are paying ALOT of money per plate ... yes you want your friends to celebrate with you and yes you want the whole world to be there ... BUTTTT if you havent seen someone or talked to someone in a long time ... its just not fair to you! (ps tell that crazy couple from church that they are NOT invited HAHA)

how many people do you have on your invite list? Usually 20 -25 % dont come so maybe you can still leave your guestlist as is

I don't think youare mean for wanting to save money. And cutting people you haven't spoken to is not wrong. I want to do the same thing, but I sent save the dates to some of these people. I am stuck!
