Guest List Issues -- ALREADY!!!!
I hope I'm wrong, but I think this just might lead me to a Bridezilla moment and I'm just getting started with the wedding planning!
Over the 12 years that fh have been together, there has been one thing that has always 'irked' me: he has NO friends. I don't know if it's a guy thing, but he just doesn't have any guy friends that he puts any effort into the friendships. Whenever we go out with 'friends' it's with MY friends. We do family events with MY family, not his. Sometimes when I've gone away with just 'the girls', he spends his weekend at home watching TV. (I know, I should be glad he's not running around on me, but come on? Don't guys want to just hang out and be guys once in a while?).
There are some guys at his job (he's been there for almost 9 years) that he goes out to lunch with on ocassion and I always suggest that he asks if they'd like to get together with their wives/girlfriends on the weekend, but he never does.
So, here's comes the problem.
Last night I tell him that what we have to do SERIOUSLY is make up an initial guest list so that way when I start calling places, I can at least give an educated guesstimate as to our head count. So he says it's simple: his family and his best friend John (who will be best man).
So then I asked if he was going to invite his 5 aunts and uncles. (He said probably). Any of your cousins? (Probably not...) Then I started listed some of the guys he works with. Again, he says no...'I don't want to invite everyone from work.'
Then he tells me that I'm inviting TOO many people.
My immediate family is 10 people. Then I have all my girlfriends that I've known forever and there are my girlfriends from work that I would invite. I have a fantastic boss and we get along great, so, of course I would invite him and his wife (FH doesn't understand why). Last spring I went on a trip with my church (sans FH) with a group of 20 people. They are all really sweet and I see them at church and we have 'reunion' parties every month, so of course I would invite them.
The result is that my initial list came to over 100 people and his came to literally like 15.
Do you think I should just prepare myself for the argument that's going to inevitably come my way? Or am I being unrealistic in who I want to invite?
Advice?
