Why does my mother feel like every single person she has ever come into contact with in her life needs to be invited to our wedding?!?!?!?!!
Seriously. I'm livid. I am PRAYING that half of the people on her list don't show. I seriously hope that 20% decline rate holds true.
Especially since our wedding is on a Thursday night.
FML.

We do have a lot of OOTs on the list...Cali, Germany, Israel, and some other places...
A lot of these people are also older. Also, we're getting married on a Thursday, so I'm hoping that will scare some people off too.
They say 20% decline rate, i am kinda hoping for 25%

I was petrified the 20% wouldn't hold true but it did. There were people/ cousins i thought would come but couldn't b/c they were in weddings that weekend, some are out of the country. Exactly 20% said no!!! Hopefully that happens for you!! Good luck!!!!

I can totally vent with you! My parents both are like 'well what abotu this person? we went to their daugters wedding 4950285 years ago, we should really invite them'
I realy don't know half the people they want to invite and its driving me nuts!! Plus FH and I have so many friends that we are inviting already, and our family alone is 125. yikes. I can't take it! Hopefully they all dont come lol godo luck!

I feel you with the guest list frustration ..our guest list is 365! I really dont wnt over 300 people coming, I dont even want 300 hahah
I guess it also all depends on who is paying for the wedding..if your parents are footing the bill, they have a right to invite who they want

They're splitting it. So, no, i don't feel my mom has the right to have as many guests as FH and I + his parents put together.
But, I can't say anything, because all it does is lead to drama that I'd much rather avoid.
She's spending a lot of money in other places (my gown, headpiece, shoes, etc...) so I can't be mad at her for not 'contributing'.
Money is just an ugly topic of conversation with her, especially when it comes to this guest list. She feels like she 'paid for all her guests' so she doesnt wanna talk about it.

I made it very clear to my parents that I had a very important rule..that only close family/friends were invited
they have respected me in that matter, thank goodness! my dad only asked for one random person to be invited and since it was only one, I let it slide! Im hoping they wont show since they dont really know me well

I honestly get into the WORST mood thinking about the guest list. I know once the invites go out (end of next month) I'll be stalking the mailbox like crazyyyyyyyy.
FH checked out airfare and hotel accomodations last night and said that the cheapest flight out of Cali (where most of our guests are from) into NY is $500...Im hoping a lot of guests put the kibosh on it because of this alone.
