Guest List problems

We are in the process of getting a final guest list for the woman who is making my invitations and I have now realized that the list is out of control. We told our reception hall that the minimum number of people we would have is 185. Our guest list has 248 people on it and stupid me, gave STDs to almost everyone on the list (sort of sounds funny ) Anyways, the only way I can narrow it down is for people who are not in a serious relationship, can't bring a guest, but that still doesn't do much for us. I am sooooooo hoping that alot of people say NO! Potentially, we could owe the reception hall close to another $10,000

Is anyone else in this situation? What are you doing?

WOW!!!! That's a lot of money to come up with if that happens!!!! I hope that you get a lot of NO's TOO!!!!!!!!

We don't have a minimum factor in our contract, thank goodness.

We told the hall 150 and invited I think about 220 ish...definitely if you want to cut, people who arent in real relationships without guests, trust me it adds up!

I invited 249 and my responses so far....(and mind you the RSVP was 3/30!) I am still getting people to give me answers who have not responded! UGH! I have 189 saying yes. I had to guarentee 150 so I am ok but I wanted the # to be a little closer to the 150 mark. But Ialso have a lot of out of state that could not come and I kinda new that in the begining when I did my list.

OMG seriously now- anytime my mom tells me, oh so and so can't come, I'm like, yahoooo who else can we add to the list of no's? It's awful! I'm so scared of paying for more than the minimum for a Sat nite wedding!

Get this- my uncle- whom I adore but almost never see cuz he's in Illinois (he's one of my MANY uncles- my father had 11 siblings!)....he has THREE weddings that he's invited to on my wedding day- but it gets better. One is in Illinois, the other in Wisconsin, mine obviously in NY. He won't be coming to mine- not just because of that predicament, but he's coming to NY a few weeks before my wedding for my Grandma's 90th birthday.

Doesn't that make you nervous that you've gone over? Do you ask yourself how am I going to pay for this?! LOL, I ask myself at least three times a week...

My parents want their friends to come to the wedding, but don't realize how many family members we already have on the list. They are willing to cut family out for their friends! I guess they are willing to pay for all of their friends to come too...
