So I work at huge company and deal with lots of people all day long. Last night I was going over my guest list to finalize the number of invitations I need. When I got to the work area I was a little hesitant on what to do.
Basically, I'm close with about 7 people I work with. And of those 7, 5 are in my department. So I'm inviting my entire department EXCEPT my boss. My boss is a great guy, we go to lunch but don't hang out.
Do you think its etiquette to invite my boss? I doubt he will come, but wasn't sure what everyone else is doing.

Re: Guest List Question
Yes I think you should invite him just to be curtious! You don't want everyone else to talk about it and maybe even ask him if he's going and then he says, 'Oh, I wasn't invited!' So if you think he will NOT come, I think you should just invite him....JMO

as annoying as it is to invite ur boss bc of the size of ur department and the fact that you are inviting everyone else in it, it seems like you should invite him

Re: Guest List Question
IMO, you definately need to invite your boss if you're inviting the rest of the department. It will at least give him/her the option of attending.

Yes, I would invite your boss, especially if your inviting your department. I feel your pain though, I am trying to figure out which co-workers to invite too!

I think its good manners to invite him as well. I'd feel bad leaving him out.

Re: Guest List Question
i also think he should be invited. i have a somewhat similar issue- my company has another division in LI. I speak to a few of the workers over there regularly. Do i have to invite them? Also, the owner of the company works out of that other office. Would it be horrible not to invite him? (i'm leaning towards just inviting him and no one else from there, but don't know if that's tacky)...

Re: Guest List Question
OMG my co-worker (who is getting married this year) were talking about it just a few hours ago. I work in a very small company (about 16 ppl total) and close only to about 3-4, who I also work with on a daily basis. others I barely speak to on a regular basis. so I dont know what to do: invite just those 4 ppl and nobody else? or to invite all? my co-worker is having pretty much the same doubts
for ur situation I think u should invite ur boss. as everybody else said it would look odd that every other single person was invited except him

I agree with everyone else... I think you need to invite your boss, especially because you're inviting your whole department.
