Just did the guest list with FH so we can really start to finalize a hall...we went from approx 75 to now 120!!! Don't know how we're going to cover this; we'll just have to keep saving and find ways to do things on a budget!
Hope the 20% rule is right-and we'll get more no's than we think!!

Re: Guest list rose by 50%
Well, you're doing a Sat eve, right?
Maybe you can change it to a Sunday, or maybe even 11/10, the day before Veteran's Day. If you change to a less desirable day of the week, not only will your price be significantly lower, but you'll probably trim a few off the 'yes' list. And eve if everyone comes, you'll be more able to afford them all!

good idea
ps: not to be a debbie downer but be prepared to get at least 10 or so more additions from your parents over the next few months ...

LOL!! Hope not!!! I already told my mother i didn't see the point in inviting her sister (my aunt) that i'm not even close to but she says 'You have to...she's your aunt). I reluctantly added her; but will draw the line at other requests for people i don't even know; and that has never once met FH or even called when they (if they) heard we were engaged!

We're trying to do Saturday Afternoon b/c saturday eve is too much out of our budget.
FH is against doing a friday or sunday-his reasoning is exactly what you said...it's not much of an inconvience for guests having to take off work; or travel from out of town...i personally feel well then that's less people that can make it!! We've got to several friday weddings where we had to take off work; or take 1/2 days. His best friend got married on memorial day a few years about in another state and we were there and had to take off the following day. I try to explain that peolpe that really want to come; will be there regardless if they have to take a day off; and those people that you're just inviting out of obligation; that maybe really don't care as much aren't going to make the effort.
