Guest List/FMIL Vent (sorry long)

I've been asking FMIL for her guest list for months now and she still hasn't given it to me. My list has been finished since June and I've been politely asking for theirs ever since. She's asked me a number of times how many people she can invite and each time I tell her 125. We guaranteed the hall 250 and we agreed in the beginning hat we would like to keep it at this number; maybe 270 the most.

Today, she asked me AGAIN if my list was done and how many people I have on it. Then she asks if she can make a list of 170 guests, I said yes. In my mind I was like ***, but I nicely said yes because she and my parents are paying for the RH. She understands if she has more guests than my family she will need to pay for the extra tables, centerpieces, favors, etc. But I'm just so frustrated because it took her so long to figure out a guest list for 125 people now she wants to add 45 more people. She wants to add 45 more people but she doesn't know exactly who those people are; so this means it will take her more time to figure this out.

I'm at the point where I'm ready to order invitations for my guests and just let them order their own whenever she finishes her list. I'm sooo freaking tired of asking for the list; it's almost October and I need to get things done.

OMG I know exactly how you are feeling!!! MY FMIL hasn't given my mom or me the list and we are ready to order invitations, programs, etc. It's really annoying!!!!! I totally understand!

i would give her a dealine though, just be like i found my invites and then cendor told me i have till november to place the order so i need your list by then

I feel your pain. I don't see anything wrong with getting the ball rolling on your end and ordering your own invites, and then having separate ones made up whenever she decides who's getting invited on her side.

I completely understand the frustration of 'I want to invite another 45 people...I just don't know who they are'....umm, W*T*F?!!??!?!?!

I don't think I would have been clever enough to think of two different sets of invites. That's a great idea, and I may borrow it when my FMIL acts up about this. It's only a matter of time!

Im sorry your going thru this. thats the worst. I know the feeling. I think you should kindly tell her that you need the total list and if she needs to add or knock more people off the list. Tell her to give you a rough list that way you at least have a list and can attempt to get the invitations done. Im sure everything will work out in the end but the process is a royal pain.

I feel your pain!!! I have been waiting for a list and addresses from FMIL FOREVER... I honestly think she's just not going to do it...

FH finally realized he should sit down with his mother and type up the list. I'm just done dealing with the guest list; I plan to order my invitations in a month and they can do whatever they want when their list is finished.

Thats very annoying. I was trying to ask FMIL to cut her list too and she wound up adding 20 people when we finally sat down and went over it I swear all FMILs are out to get us!

I think there's a common trend with FMILs and the guest lists!!! My parents have been ready with their lists about 2 months now....FMIL cant seem to find the time to think of the names of the people she wants to invite....i am ready to order save the dates but i'm waiting on her!!!

i've gotten to the point that i told FH that i NEED some kind of list soon...hopefully he gets the job done. i'm tired of asking....

if i dont get a list from her soon then i'll just send out my save the dates to the people me and FH have an address for...
