So0oo0 I started to do a preliminary guestlist to get an idea of how many so I don't go to reception halls and look like a lost puppy dog.... We didnt even think we'd make 100 and we're just about at 150 now... So much for a 'small' wedding! And the funny part is that we both come from rather small families....
Has anyone else almost had a heart attack when they wrote up a rough draft of a guest list???

Our first list we had 110...then we needed 150 for a minimum...once we started adding we couldnt stop...out of control!!
Mine is off the meter already, I have a min. of 125 for our hall. I started a list and we are at like 175. We work together so we have so many coworkers to invite.

Our guest list is a lot bigger than the 155 we guaranteed. We are well over 200 people. However, my FH has a huge family from Canada so we think only the English speaking ones may come. It's funny because people that we don't have on our guest list make comments about our wedding and assume they are going.

FH and I did a 'rough draft' and the total was 186 (that was family only). We have to invite friends. I almost passed out because both sides of our families is big. We had to downsize from 275 to 186. It is very stressful!

FH and I had a list of 375!!! It was absolutely ridiculous!! We have to guarantee 250 guests so we have to narrow it down to about 300 invites to guarantee the 250. It gets crazy how easy it is to make a list of so many people!

I also thought I would have a small wedding, bc my fam is small and i basically keep to myself... when fh and I did our first list we were pushing 350 - however we'd like to cut it down to 300

Our guestlist for just family and our GOOD friends is around 190....and our OOT family that we thought wouldnt even think would consider coming...are all calling to say that they are def. coming Our list doesnt even include co-workers and other friends we want to invite.

I am newly engaged and we made up list and I didn't want to go above 150 ( i have a huge family) and now I'm saying I dont want to go above 180 and we havent even spoken to our parents about who they want to invite (we're going to be paying for everything so hopefully we'll be able to control that) but I was talking to my FSIL last weekend and she started naming all this family that i have NEVER MET (we've been together 5 1/2 years) and how they HAVE to be invited, she named like 20 other people that I've never heard of!!!!! that kind of put me in a panic. but I dont think we're going to start with any of that until the end of the summer so hopefully i can calm myself down until then.
Yes I know exactlly how you feel I have 2 families my mom & dad's side plus my stepmother side ... then his family. and did you ever realize how many friends guys have !!!!

I feel your pain. LOL i was just talking to me co-worker and this weekend im going to look at my hall and i need to know what hall to ust the 140max or the 150min. We both had large families and we need to invite some kids so it makes me wonder how many ppl are going to be coming to the wedding and how will show and who ill not show. So tonight mom and I are going to look over the list and see what room she i pick... AHHHH!!!!!

Oh my gosh, I know exactly what you mean!! I made up a rough draft of just people I knew off the top of my head we were inviting and I was almost pushing 200!! That's without some of FH's family that I don't know, neighbors, friends, my parent's friends that I know as well.
Although, I was talking to my FMIL about it and I was saying we weren't sure how many friends we wanted to invite and she said to invite as many as we want, that it's our wedding and she would rather have us do that than her having to invite certain family members!! Go FMIL!

UGGH!! I just wrote like a book and I lost it all b/c I forgot I wasnt logged in!!! How aggravating
Lemme try to rem it all now...
Soo Go FMIL!!! I'm at that stage right now where my mom is like 'well if you invite these 3rd cousins, you need to invite these also' (Im very close to some and others I dont think I have ever met in my life...) I'm not liking this whole 'etiquette' thing here....
So how do you girls feel when dealing with inviting fam you don't even know? Long before I was engaged, I always said 'it's my wedding, i'll invite who i want' And now I feel like I have to succumb to the whole etiquette crapola

Last night FH and I wrote out a draft of who we could think of... and sent it off to FMIL to check it over and add fam that we didnt think of and her own friends.. I havea feeling its gona come back with 10 million people added to it She gave Fh & I $$ to put towards wedding so she might take advantage of that....
Hope she realizes how much weddings cost these days
