Oldest Bridesmaid
Flossie Bennett (b. August 9, 1902) was, at the grand old age of 97 years 181 days, Matron of Honor at the wedding of Leonard and Edna Petchey on February 6, 1999, at St Peter's Church in Holton, East Anglia, UK. Flossie shared her bridesmaid duties with Leonard's 12-year-old granddaughter, a record age gap of 85 years between the two bridesmaids!
Largest Underwater Wedding
The largest underwater wedding took place on September 13, 2003, when 105 divers (including the bride, groom and minister, Captain John Macy) submerged themselves completely in the waters of Rainbow Beach, St Croix, Virgin Islands, USA, to witness the marriage ceremony between Toni Wilson and John Santino.
A table was placed on the sea bed at a depth of about 3 m (10 ft), and witnesses signed a laminated guest registry – using a waterproof pen, of course. The whole event went swimmingly, except at one point, when the guests caused a slight visibility problem: when asked to kneel, they disturbed the sandy sea bed.
