Gurney's Inn

Hi everyone! I am new to LIWeddings, I got engaged last month. We are looking for a place for our 2009 wedding. Does anyone have any thoughts on Gurney's Inn in Montauk?
Thanks

Re: Gurney's Inn

I went to a wedding there and was disappointed when I expected a lavish, old money style affair. But that was made worse when they had a card table bar with barely any options for liquor at all- most people travelled downstairs to the cash bar to satisfy even basic drinks but that could have been the family's choice...

The room wasn't anything spectactular, the food alright, the beach wedding- sad, other Gurney's guests were sunbathing and gawking on the inside of the fabric draped sticks intended for privacy...

the CH and beach bonfire that night great

However I have since been there for a conference and it was nice, the rooms great and the food better... sooo I guess it depends on how you plan it.

My sister looked there for her wedding and it was just SO shabby looking. For the price you're paying, you'd think you would get a nicer venue but it was really worn down. If you're looking for that shabby chic feel and you have the money to really dress it up with teh flowers and all that, then it might be worth it but otherwise, I would look elsewhere.

When I first got engaged we checked out Gurneys a long with a few other Montauk venues. It was very nice, but I did not care for the room where the reception would be. There are many options if you are looking for a place on the water. Just look around before you make any decisions

I was in a wedding that was held at Gurney's this summer and thought that it was beautiful, however the main plus side of this was that they had thier ceremony on the beach, im not sure what the indoor ceremony accomodations are like. The room was oh, nothing spectactular but still very nice. The food was great, the CH was very nice. It was a great wedding. I would check it out.
