Re: Gym
There is a bridal boot camp near the Huntington Mall. Although if that's too far, I've heard p90x does work but that Jillian Michael's 90 plan might be easier for a beginnner....It's called body revolution.

Re: Gym
I work out regularly and decided to take a break from he gym for awhile and buy p90x. I hated it. The guy never shuts up and all it is is exercising and lifting weights. Its nothing new or exciting. With that said, i have a very gently used p90x for sale if u want it!

Re: Gym
Yea i tried both p90x and insanity. I HATED the p90x guy but i really liked insanity. I did it for 2 weeks (because its really hard and i gave up) but was impressed with doing the work out and eating right how quickly i saw changes.

Re: Gym
I have been doing Insanity for 2 weeks now and LOVE it. Its challenging but if you stick with it you know you will get results. If you are looking for something less difficult try the Jillian Michaels tapes. I like the 'Get ripped in 30 days' the best.

Re: Gym
That's not too far. Who wants to go with me? I think of myself as being in decent shape. I just want to tone up. I am not consistent with my workouts. I have the zumba dvds which are fun but I find going to the classes a better work-out. I use to work-out at the gym but I get bored easy. I just bought a house and I work nights. So its hard to get motivated. Oh and I love to eat!!! Thanks ladies!

Which zumba dvds do you have? I think I might look into getting some.

Re: Gym
I have zumba fitness the old set of dvds. They come with toning sticks. It included Zumba Fitness Basics, Zumba Fitness 20-minute Express, Zumba Fitness Cardio Party, Zumba Fitness Sculpt & Tone,Zumba Fitness Live, and Zumba Fitness Flat Abs. Not bad workouts but I had a girl in farmingdale named Jen that seriously had my clothes wet from sweating so much.

Re: Gym
I have used p90x, and although i think its good, it is very hard to actually follow the program step for step. You will need a a set of weights, one of those door pull up bars, or a set of resistance bands. Also, I can see how some people will be turned off by Tony Horton's personality. He does talk a lot, and comes off as a bit of a bragging show off. Some people get motivated by that, some dont.
As an alternative, I reccomend people check out RushFit. Its similar to p90x, but its done by MMA fighter George St Pierre and his trainer. Its only an 8 week program vs 12 weeks for p90x, requires only a small set of weights. No pull up bar. Plus, start to finish, the dvds are under 1 hour, where as p90x, they can run from 1 hour to 1.5 for the yoga. The main instructor has a much more subdue personality compared to Tony. I also like the structure of the workouts. 5 minute rounds of non stop work, done for 5 rounds (25 minutes). Its low weight high intensity circuit workout.
As for a Bootcamp, I just did a 12 week bootcamp at the Synergy in Farmingdale. I lost about 10 pounds, and dropped my body fat by 2%. I would HIGHLY reccomend it if Synergy isnt too far from you. They also run the same bootcamp at the massapequa location, but that started a few weeks ago, so you can probably still join for a prorated rate.
Lastly, i would check out LA boxing in commack. They do boxing classes, but also have a small gym you can use whenever they are open. Classes will def kick your butt.

I very much recommend Club CKO in Copiage! They are very reasonable and I even saw a groupon for them. http://www.livingsocial.com/cities/325/deals/242422
