I'm no expert or anything, but in order to lose the fat from anyplace you have to do aerobic exercises like running (it's really good for you legs) you will see much improvement. I have the same problem my thighs are never define but my trainer said it's because i have to lose some thigh fat =0, so i suggest running or walking really fast.

The leg press is excellent. Maybe you need to up your weight and the # of sets. I also do these machines for the back and front of the thighs. I forget what they are called but they are both chairs and you push the weight that is behind your feet downward for the back of thighs and glutes, and another machine where you pull weight that is above your feet upward for the front of thighs. Also the elliptical or treadmill are great for thighs and fat burning in general. Lunges are great for thighs. Lunge one foot backward, balance, then back to start position.

like the previous poster said cardio is definitely a necessity when trying to burn fat. I am a huge fan of squats...i do front squats and regular barbell squats. i also do lunges and quad extensions to tighten up the quads! HTH
also, an obvious thing is that your diet needs to be in check too!

I will def agree with the first post. Before you work on muscle building you have to melt away the fat. I use to weigh 170 pounds and dropped over 45 pounds and was left with the saggiest thighs you could imagine I started running up a lot hills in my neighborhood and I am really starting to see some definition in my thighs. I look better than I did 10 years ago when I was 15...lol...
I also do an exercise with Billy Blank JR. on exercise TV that specifically targets thighs and all you need is a deck of cards. It is murder on my thunder thighs...lol... FM if you want more info.

What works for me, and I think it's really effective, is to do a combo of weights and cardio. First warm up about 10 min of cardio. Stretch. Then do weight training, light-med weights, squats, lunges, any leg exercises you want really and alteranate each leg exercise with an arm exercise. for ex: do a set of squats and then go right into bicep curls. then rest. and do this a 2nd time. rest and a 3rd time and rest. Then you would moce onto another combo. If you can (dont kill yourself at the beginning) after your weight workout, finish with 25-30 cardio, and then STRETCH! It's a great way to tone up and trim down. I used to teach at a well-known gym for years and if you have any questions just fm , I love to help especailly when it comes to working out!
