I used to belong to Lucille Roberts. It was very cheap, but you had to 'run' to get a treadmill. Also, the classes were packed wall to wall. I felt like a sardine in a can.
Dh and I just joined Bell Plaza Gym(near CVS). It is more money, but they are having a big sale now. The classes are smaller and I never have a problem getting a treadmill. It is a coed gym, but everyone is so nice!!

Hi Attica! I used to be a member of Lucille Roberts on Bell, it was a nightmare. Yes, it was cheap, but to find parking is a total hassle, then you have to sign up for a treadmill and god forbid you want to go on longer than 30 minutes. I hated this gym. Now I go to New York Sports Club in Whitestone. I like it much, much better. Good luck. -Danielle

i used to go to to lucille at bell and like everyone already said, its just too crowded especially at peak times ( after 4)
FH and I now go to ballys in little neck which I like (i havent been there since july though ) it has a pool too also

I used to go to the LR in Bayside when I lived there. I almost got in a physical fight with someone over the treadmill!

I loved this gym- it was not cheap but it was super-clean, very nice, lots of equiptment. Sometimes getting on a treadmill in the evening could be a pain, but not too bad. I actually transferred my membership to the club in Somers when I moved.
