ok. i had my general check up today and i was told i have a yeast infection. i am experiencing no symptoms at all. i was really surprised. does that sound normal? before i start the medication, should i get a second opinion? is it possible to just produce a lot of yeast right before your period (im due next week) my doc has been doing this for a long time, but i just dont want to go through a week of medication if i dont have to. thanks! i know its a bad one.

My GYNO told me that some girls yeast levels can rise right before their periods. I would take the medication, they are usually pretty positive when it come to that stuff

i may call him tomorrow. the last time i took it, it didnt work for me..but i think its because i had a bad case...dont ask..( : so i think he is hesitant to give it to me again. but i would much rather do that. should i start the other stuff tonight and call tomorrow for the diflucan?

same thing happened to me. he gave me diflucan. took it for a week. he said i had a slight infection. i didn't know it either. and it's funny at the time i ate yogurt daily and that's supposed to ward off y.i.'s

yeah i said that today..im like, im stockin up on yogurt again!
what happened is, i got a UTI once and i had to take antibiotics...so the antibiotics gave me a YI and i didnt realize it. so by the time i saw my doc it was bad. so the diflucan didnt work well that time. (i had taken it a previous time and it DID work)
so if i call him, should i just ask for diflucan? what should i say? i feel like i am undermining his word ( : but the other stuff is suich a nuisance!

yes marcela..that is exactly how i feel! ....so do you girls think i should suck it up and use the cream stuff? do you think thats more effective? and BTW...THANK YOU for responding to this! i appreciate it! my sister is home sleeping and i cant call her!

Did he give you the things that look like bullets and you insert them or just cream for the outside?..Sorry if it's TMI.
The reason that I am asking is b/c if it's just to be used on the outside, it might not get rid of the YI, b/c YI form from the inside (gross, I know). So, you either need the suppositories or Diflucan. I personally, prefer Diflucan and hate the suppositories..They're nasty

i KNOW! i have suppositories....i HATE them! the next day is a mess. ( : LOL sorry! im being such a baby, i know.
actually...its not even the bullets its actually cream that i have to 'inject' up there. oy! if it was a 3 day id be cool..but its a 7 day!!! ahhhhhh!!!!!!!!

UGH.. I would call him and ask if you can take the Diflucan. When I've taken it, I only take it once. It stays in your body for a few days and kills the infection.
I had one YI in my life...and I never knew that I had it...the dr told me and I took the prescription...(this was years ago - read - tight jeans and non cotton panties and those messy Rxs...)

Ditto only once in my life. But I knew I had it.. Horrible feeling. Ah the burning. I took the cream as if it were some sort of miracle cream. This was years ago (ack almost 10 yrs ago!!) before all the cool improvements we now have.
