H E L P !!

OK -- I am very scared... I have been having bad headaches-- and sinus pain for a while -- today my ENT Dr. told me he thinks I should have surgery to correct a really bad deviated septum -- I never knew I had! I read up on the surgery -- it does not seem pleasant-- AND my husband is away till Dec. for work -- I cant have it done alone-- who would take care of Aidan ! I am sure I am overreating -- but Should I get a second opinion? And has anyone had this surgery -- Did it help?

I dont know anything about this...but to answer your question...YES i think u should get another opinion b4 operating. Lets say u find out u HAVE to do the operation, find out if it could wait until December so that hubby will be around.

Definitely get a second opinion when you are facing surgery.

my sister had that done when she was a teenager. It helped her tremendously. I honestly don't remember the surgery part but definately wait until your husband gets home. You'll definately be out of commission for a few days at least and will need the help.

Any surgery is risky but i think this is fairly routine so don't worry too much. You'll be thankful afterwards.

i think you should get a second opinion and if you have to get it done, ask if you can wait until dec when your husband gets home.

My cousin had this operation done twice.. the second time was tremendously risky as she had an infection really close to her brain... BUT both operations were a success and she is totally fine and much better for having the surgery. So yes, get a second opinion, but if it's recommended that you have the procedure done, I wouldn't wait.

Always go for a second (even third!) opinion when surgery is involved. That's my opinion, at least.

I think it's a fairly routine surgery - so I wouldn't worry too much about it...but I would wait until your husband is home. In the meantime, I would go for a 2nd opinion.

Def. get a second opinion. I also have a deviated septum, and one surgeon said I 'must' get it fixed, my second opinion guy said it is voluntary, no harm if I don't. If you do not, you will still have the same sinus troubles.

I have since learned that some docs make their living doing this surgery alone - much of it unnecessary.
