Had an emotional break down last nite (vent)

so i realized that i am at just over 8 months till the big day. FH and i are paying for this ourselves and we have paid about 60% of this wedding balances so far. but when i looked at how much is left in 8 months ....i suddenly started to freak out. how the hell are we gonna get this money together? how can we pay it all w/o going into any debt? (i don't want to take out loans or put anything on credit cards) can we really do it? ARGHHH!!!

needless to say, i broke down in tears in front of my FH. it's the first true breakdown i've had concerning this wedding. he tried to say 'we'll figure it out' but it's like what's there to figure out! we just need tons of money! LOL i know that we will somehow make it--but it just feels so overwhelming.

okay i just need to vent. *sigh* anyone else?

Re: Had an emotional break down last nite (vent)

oh god, every day and thank god i have vinny to bring me back down to earth. even though we are on a tight plan to save and we save a certain amount each week and i fully understand we will be OK-- just looking at it every once in a while, i start to freak out thinking that it is NEVER going to happen-- but one way or another, b/c you love each other and you want it-- IT WILL HAPPEN!! trust me, everything will be OK and you will work together to make it possible!!!
It's going to be hard, I'm not going to lie but you can definitely do it and then the satisfaction afterwards of knowing that you did it all on your own and the memories-- you will be so happy!!!

totally normal to feel this way, everyone goes through it, don't worry!!!

Re: Had an emotional break down last nite (vent)

hey sweetheart dont worry about it, it will happen always remember your wedding is the day you get to show your love to the world, keep strong and you will find the means to pay for the wedding, you also will be getting gifts from guests, use the money in the cards to pay some of the debt. Good luck to you and I wish you the best!!!

Re: Had an emotional break down last nite (vent)

We are paying for it ourself also. We eliminated 'uncessary' expenses. Like the Limo since the ceremony and hall are at the same place.

I am working side jobs once in a while (not every weekend!!) but it pays for swimsuits, HM outfits.

Maybe you could that too?

Aww MJ *hugs*
Try to stay focussed and positive...like you said you have paid 60% off already...that is an achievment within itself...
Also you have 8 months up your sleeve it's better than 8 weeks...right?
It's ok to have a cry/vent/sigh...I think we foget we are human...
Cheer up Charlie the best is yet to come...your FH sounds very supportive....

Re: Had an emotional break down last nite (vent)

Although we still have over a year and a half to go before our day - my FH and I are in the same boat that we're paying for it all ourselves. So we sat down and made a list of what do we NEED, what can we eliminate completely and what we can do ourselves.

Since I do crafts on the side, I'm thinking of doing my own invitations, favors, centerpieces, and possibly bouquets. We're looking into having the ceremony and reception in the same place to eliminate limo and church fees. My aunt and grandmother have offered to pay for my dress and alterations. My mother told us to put our honeymoon in our registry (apparently there are now sites to do so). I'm hoping we can find a way to afford anything leftover so we don't start out our lives in debt. Worst case scenerio I'll start eBaying my crafts instead of keeping it local.

Don't worry about it so much - it'll take away from the day. I don't know of anybody who is able to afford the dream wedding without major sacrifices. Good luck with everything.

Re: Had an emotional break down last nite (vent)

I don't have time for a random breakdown, so I've scheduled a few of them to happen sporadically within the next year. I think I also made sure to schedule two of them back to back 2 weeks before the big day...

Re: Had an emotional break down last nite (vent)

This happened to me too and probably happens to everyone. If there are no corners to cut and you really dont think youll have enough - maybe you can ask ILs or your parents to borrow some $$?

Luckily my ILs all decided to give us cash as the wedding was approaching as our gift instead of after. It really helped. Good Luck and

Re: Had an emotional break down last nite (vent)

for you!
And you are definitely not alone...I have over a year to go and I swear after every vendor we book, I breakdown in the car thinking about how we are paying for this. My FI is great at reassuring me that in the end everything will work out (and I think he's 100% right). So try not to worry too much and enjoy the rest of your planning!!!!!

Re: Had an emotional break down last nite (vent)

You're not alone. We have a very strict budget, including how much of each paycheck is supposed to go into the wedding account. Every single time FH says I only have 'X' this week instead of 'Y' but I'l make it up I have complete heart failure. It has now been 5 paychecks since the last time he said I only have 'X' - but he still hasn't made up the difference.
