I just had my first Bridezilla moment... I was finalizing the guest list with my mother, where we've totaled it up to 243 guests (even though I originally didn't want to go over 200 )!! Thanks to FMIL and my Dear mother, they felt that you can't invite one family household and leave another household out. So after stressing how much money it'll cost for an additional 43 guests, my mom then says 'Hey did you invite your Uncle Peter and his wife from Alabama?' I haven't seen that man in about 10 years...I don't know what happened but I totally flipped out! Main reason, is because FH and I are paying for the entire wedding ourselves and we think it's so unfair that our parents keep on asking us to add guests to our wedding when we're not asking them for a dime. I really didn't mean to flip out, and now I feel so bad for yelling at my mom, but I couldn't help it.
How do I make it better with my mom? I feel so horrible. And with that said...what part of the wedding planning process do you think will bring out the Bridezilla in you? Clearly, mine is the guestlist. lol

Re: Had my first Bridezilla moment (kinda long sorry)
explain to her it is very different from when she got married...its alot more stress and $$ these days. You didnt mean to get angry but she needs to understand how much $$ this is costing you. I told my parents i dont want to invite family members i don't know cause i dont want a bunch of strangers at my wedding!
It will work out dont worry! feel better

it happens to the best of us. i think you just need to apologize to your mother--and say 'i'm sorry i didn't mean to flip out on you....BUT we are paying for this wedding and you seem to think its okay to invite everyone possible. i know you are just excited and want to share this day with so many people, but i can't afford that. so please understand why i don't want to invite ppl that i haven't SEEN in 10 years.'
my best BZ moment was when at one of my last fittings--as my sister was helping me into my dress.....i someone scratched her BAD with my nail. it immediately started bleeding.
my #1 priority? 'Um....get your finger AWAY from my dress! You can NOT BLEED ON IT!!!!!'

while i totally understand where you're coming from, i think its important for us to understand where our parents are coming from as well. this is a really happy occassion for them too and of course they want to invite everyone to witness. even i find myself thinking about friends i havent seen in a while and wanting to invite them bc i just want everyone to be there! haha. i know its not possible, so i would just try to compromise. i gave my parents a set amount they could invite. when i found them struggling, we went through each person and i let them add on a few more. after that, they offered to pay for any extras they may add on later. i thought that was fair. i didnt want to argue with them about this. its supposed to be a happy occasion. we are paying for this ourselves as well and even though it is our money, i do want my parents to be able to have whoever they want there. i understand both sides, so hopefully a compromise will work. good luck!

Thanks for responding ladies. Jessica, you're so right!!! This is exactly why I felt so bad yelling at her, because although I know we can't keep affording everyone they're adding on, (they've already went over 43 guests..it just seems like it's never ending). You brought up a good point that FH also mentioned...let them pay for the extra guests...I will have a talk with her about that.
MJdoc12--- that's not a bridezilla moment..that's the truth!!!!! Bloodstains are HARD to get rid of, let alone having it on your wedding dress??? lol..funny story!

definitely talk with your mom and have FH talk to his mom. set a limit of 200. 100 for you and FH, 50 for each mom. anything over that 50 they have to pay for.

Wow, it sounds like you just retold my life! I experienced a bridezilla-meltdown last week and felt SO bad after that I blew up like that....I took a few breaths, redeemed myself and felt so much better! I say talk to her...that made it better for me!

I understand. I would be honest and apologize. 'I am sorry for snapping/yelling at you, however the extra 40+ people are costing us alot of un expected expenses. We wanted to keep the wedding to the people most important to us, and not so much of a reunion.'

Funny story... my mother and I were helping my sister in law get ready for her wedding... and my mom tried to unpin the safety pins that were holding the dress on.. and she cut her finger and bled all over the inside of the dress!!! It was a mini disaster... but it came out with cold water and soap... but it was too funny....
