Had my first mortgage nightmare!

I woke up this morning right after I had a nightmare about getting a mortgage.....in the nightmare, the guy (who was super-sketchy to begin with) wouldn't give me a mortgage because he said that on my salary, Tom and I couldn't afford to dress in stylish clothing.
He took out these magazines and was showing us the latest trends in men's and women's fashions and how much they all cost and told me that i should wait until i'd been teaching long enough that i could afford those clothes.
isnt' that crazy?
what do you think it means?
i'm going to have to take out my dream book and check it out!!
