Had my ring dipped before the wedding

Had my ring dipped before the wedding

I just wanted to tell everyone that before the wedding I had my ring re-dipped and it was the best thing I did! I went to Good Old Gold and they did an awesome job. I was engaged for over 2 years before my wedding so my white gold ring was looking pretty bad...I am horrible...I would wear it lifting weights at the gym so it was scratched and not looking like new! But, once done, it matched my band perfectly and looked like the day I got it!!!

was it expensive to do this?

I believe it was 45 plus tax. Worth every penny! I couldn't believe how great it looked afer.

However, when I went back to my car it wouldn't start....dead battery...and I had to be in court in like 4 hours for a speeding ticket (2 days before my wedding). It was a nutty day!!!

I had mine done too......DH took it to our jeweler that we bought it from (and wedding bands and everything else we have) and he dipped it for free. I would try the person yo bought it from cause they might do it for nothing.

I had mine done as well. We were engaged a year before the actual day but now i will get it redipped every 6 months. My jeweler says that fine to do.

silly question, but do they have to remove the diamond to do that? FH is against anyone removing the diamond because he heard it could crack the stone.

Thanks. Now I'm adding that to my list of things to do before the wedding.

I agree. Mine was starting to dull a few months ago, so I brought it back to the jeweler where FH bought it and they did it for free.

some jewelers will do it for free if you bought it there. Rita you can shop around. my dads cousin is a jeweler and he only charges 30

Same here, the protection plan that FH bought covers this for the lifetime of the piece. I have an appt. to go on 8/22 to get it done. I can't wait so that it will look fresh and new

The jeweler where FH bought my ering dips it for free, however, they have to send it out and it takes a few days. I can't bear to be without my ring for that long so I will probably take it to Maddaloni jewelers in Dix Hills before the wedding -- they re-rhodium the ring in less than half an hour while you wait.

NO they do NOT remove your stone. No worries. Its done with rhodium. So nothing sticks to your stones. First of course they buff & clean the ring thoroughly. Man the ring comes out amazing.

Same for our jeweler. If you can't get an appointment or live further east I can give you his info, he's awesome, he designed and made my wedding band to go with my e-ring as well. Not a lot of jewelers will do it while you wait, or on weekends, he does both by appointment.

this is good to know because I bought a platinum band and my ring is white gold.
White Gold turns no matter what because white gold doesn't really exist.. You can only tell on underside but they told me (where I got band) right before wedding to have the rhodium done.

This is great info- my e-ring is platinum but my wedding band is white gold. I'll definitely having the band dipped from time to time.
