had my shower

My shower was yesterday at Mena's in Westchester. I knew about it so it wasn't a surprise, but I did have one surprise of the day- my friend flew up from Kentucky for my shower! I was so excited to see her. We got great gifts and I'm very grateful, but I can't help being a teensy bit disappointed.
We got all of the stuff my FH really wanted, but we didn't get some of the stuff I was really looking forward to. I didn't register for China because I felt it would be too expensive, so I bought the place settings for myself last year. I registered for some of the serving pieces, because I couldn't afford to buy them for myself and didn't get a single one. I was also hoping for some little things just for me, like lingerie or the cute 'just married' flip flops, but I didn't get any of that. I hope that I don't sound selfish because I swear I'm not. I truely loved every minute of my shower and everything that people got us.
My parents and FILs were very generous to us. FIL's are buying us a stainless steel fride and dishwasher and my parents are getting us the matching stove. YAY!!!
After the restaurant shower, my sister and FH had planned a bbq back at our house for all of our close family and friends and the guys. We had an awesome time!

i'm sorry that you didn't get some of the stuff that you wanted, but i am glad that you had a good time.

I was having a bad day ( annoyed with inlaws) and a friend from Wisconsin called to tell me that she bought tickets to come to ny for our wedding and it changed the whole mood.

Sounds awesome!!! Glad you had a good time!! WOW-- a fridge, stove, and dishwasher!!! Those are great gifts!!! I don't think you sound selfish for being a little dissappointed for not getting some of those things. Sometimes it's the little, NOT so expensive gifts (like the flip-flops -- what are those, like $10?) that mean alot!!!

So glad to hear that your shower went well and that you got a lot of nice stuff (all except for the little things.. I know what you mean, I didn't get those cute little gifts either.. would up getting a few of them at the un-official bachelorette party, though .. so have hope! )

I completely understand how you feel, my shower was yesterday too and are a bunch of things we didn't get off our registry that I was surprised about. It was nice of your friend to come all the way from Kentucky! How sweet!

I think you should go out and get yourself those flip-flops to thank yourself for doing all this wedding planning!

I agree! I know it sounds silly, but I really want those stupid flip flops! My bachelorette party is next weekend and we're all going to Newport. If I don't get them then, I'm going to go ahead and buy them for myself!

I am so happy you had a great time. Does your registry offer a discount after the wedding? Maybe you could buy the other items then?
