Had my shower

I had my shower last night and it was absolutely wonderful. FI and I have had a really rough week (FI grandmother passed away Wednesday and my uncle's father passed away on Friday). So needless to say both our families are having an emotional week. With all that was going on, they managed to pull off a great shower.

They had it Saturday night in Carousello in Howard Beach. I was told we were going to a retirement party for my aunt. I had a feeling my shower was this weekend (I kept going back and forth whether I thought Sat or Sun). My mom spend all Saturday afternoon with me - -so then I thought it was going to be Sunday afternoon. (I went and had my hair and make up trial-separate thread).

The food, decorations and gifts were great. I got so much stuff from my registry and not one duplicate! There are a few things left on the registries but I got gift certificates and cash so I should manage to get it all.

I will post some pictures of some cool stuff they did at the shower.

It was sad that my FI grandmother and my aunt and cousin could not make it but all in all it was a special day.

My mom made this unbrella for me.

The rolling pin was something my mom had at her shower as a guest book. Everyone got to sign a heart with their wishes. My mom tore apart hers and made me a modern one! The rolling pin is a joke - to be used to keep a husband in line!

My FMIL made this basket. It is dish towels and pot holderes, candles and decorations for all holidays. A gift a year in the making. The funny part was I made a similar gift for my SIL for her shower a couple months ago. No wonder my FI was snickering when I showed him the gift for my SIL.

i forgot...i LOVED that your shower was at night. That is so original and would have thrown me off thats for sure. Daytime I am so going to know!

Looks like you had a super-shower - I love it when people get original and crafty with their gift ideas. The night-time is also a great way to really surprise the bride - I have to remember that for the next shower I have to throw
