Had my shower on Saturday!
My shower was this past Saturday and what a great day!!! I was originally nervous because the weather earlier in the week called for rain and cooler temps but it turned out to be beautiful! (It wasn't a suprise since we had to use my miles to fly my sister in and it was my house.)
There were some crazy mishaps on Friday and Saturday morning. My sister's flight from California was delayed so she didn't get in until Friday evening, which blew all of our plans to get her fitted for her BM dress and to get ready for the shower, and cook all of the food, which I wound up doing around midnight on Friday! Also my FH and I were literally putting the finishing touches on our study (which we just completely redid) as people started to arrive. In the end, everything worked out and it was fantastic.
Got lots of great gifts, all of BM could be there but one (she just had a baby in December and doesn't want to fly with him yet).
Wanted to drop kick future niece across the house when I was opening presents though, because she insisted on sitting between my mom and me, and proceeded to rip open all of the gifts and even dropped one and broke my marguerita glasses one of my BM got me. But it's okay, she's only 5 and doesn't understand it wasn't her day...
I even had a dream the night before that my grandmother (who passed awat 10+ years ago) was there, in the kitchen, talking to me about the shower.
And FMIL in law bought us a BBQ, which we plan to use for tonight's dinner - we can't wait! :)
I'll post pics as soon as my sister and other BMs send me some!
BTW, did you girls know you are not supposed to use a sharp object to help to open gifts at a shower? I was having a particularly difficult time with one ribbon on a gift, and FMIL offered to grab scissors, and one BM shouted, 'NO! You're not supposed to use anything sharp!' I had never heard that before... And something like if you get knives as a gift, you are supposed to get pennies to combat the 'evilness' of the knives...
