We haven't gone through that yet. What do they ask you?

Re: Had our PreMarital Investigation yesterday
Here are some of the questions...
Have you ever been married before? Are you a relative of your fiance? Have you ever been promised to marry?
Then the rest are normal...
Do you know that marriage is intended forever, only to be dissolved by death? Do you know and intend to live by the laws of the church regarding family planning? Are you open to the fact of having children?

WHAT IS A PREMARITAL INVESTIGATION?
They just ask you questions to make sure that you are entering into marriage freely.

Re: Had our PreMarital Investigation yesterday
I think the term the poster used may be a bit misleading.... it;s not anything separate from _re-Cana, etc. etc. if you're a Catholic bride. Your priest or deacon wuld have asked similar questions when you met with him to set up your date and make arrangements.

It is separate from Pre Cana. It was a meeting to go over the final paperwork for the wedding. And that's when he went over all this with us.

Re: Had our PreMarital Investigation yesterday
Finally someone elses church calls it a premarital investigation! When I went I thought it was going to be torture but it was literally simple questions.

Ours was also separate from Pre Cana we had the premarital investigation months after we completed Pre Cana. They make you answer the questions apart from each other, I had to leave the room while the priest asked FH.
Our priest was even joking about it. He said it just has to be done. Not a big deal.

Re: Had our PreMarital Investigation yesterday
They asked us all this stuff when we first sat down to make arrangements. It was weird and I was laughing a lot and being quite smart with the priest. Thankfully, he was a cool guy and totally understood and laughed at the questions too.

Re: Had our PreMarital Investigation yesterday
FH and I had the same thing when we went to discuss arrangements for the wedding. We had to go into separate rooms and answer a bunch of questions. I was totally nervous because I'm not Catholic (i'm episcopalean which is anglo-catholic) but it was no big deal. Just stuff like do you love him, are you marrying of your own free will, will you promise to be faithful, stuff like that. I thought though he was gonna force me to say that we would raise our children Catholic but he just asked FH if he would do his 'best' to bring our children up Catholic. LOL...we've already discussed it and we're bringing them up Episcopal...FMIL doesn't know it yet though LOL

That's interesting.... we did the Pre-Marital Investigation the day we met with the priest to go over the date....which was BEFORE pre-Cana. the only thing we did after Pre-Cana was meet to discuss the logisitcs of the day and to show him my program and readings.....
All Catholic brides have to do this, I think some churches use a different term for it...and/or do it at different times.

Re: Had our PreMarital Investigation yesterday
We just took our 'exam', omg, haha, I was cracking up 1/2 the time!
Are you afraid to see your partner nude after marriage? hmmmmm, I'm glad they asked! I never thought of that before....
They do get into some strange questions.... but i guess some of the things (on the 189-question test) aren't talked about by some couples.
heehee.

Re: Had our PreMarital Investigation yesterday
yeah, wasn't that whole experience really creepy?
I still can't absorb that the church would formally write out all that REALLY personal and off-color stuff and actually ASK innocent us those things!!!
FH and I were really confused
