had to tell mom to shut up

why does talking to my mom about money always end in an all out brawl?

big mistake telling her how much the honeymoon is probably gonna be. we want to go on a cruise around italy..with airfare and hotels and the cruise the trip comes to about 9 G's She thinks we're crazy...but when the hell are we ever going to go on a trip like that again??

I have had to skimp out on a lot of things for this wedding,,,this is one thing i wont skimp out on...I work a shittty job, do about 30 hours of overtime a month, (FH does more than that) I am finishing my masters this year and I think we both deserve a nice trip before real life, kids, and mortgage payments come into effect. So I basically told my mom to shut up..am i being a biotch? Maybe I shouldve been the one to shut up and not told her the prices of things.

I am sure she just doesn't want to see you start off like that..........maybe she thinks it will put you in debt.
I have to be very careful what I share with my mom. Especially about money. She loves to throw it in my face if I struggle and tell me

share your excitement, but not the cost!

I think you shouldn't have told her we can't tell our parents certain things because they will never understand

Are you and FH paying for the honeymoon yourselves? If so, then don't let anybody get you down about it! It's your decision, your money and your HM. You should splurge as much as you want (and can afford) because like you said... when will you ever get to go on a trip like this again! My FH and I are spending WAY more than we ever would for any trip (and prob ever will again) but it's ok... because it's our HM... a once in a lifetime vacation to celebrate the beginning of our marriage. Money ain't a thang!!

You are not being a biotch. I learned a long time ago not to tell my mother how much things cost. She and I have different views on what expensive is so I have learned to zip the lip.

Trust me keep it to yourself -- you will both be much happier.

i hate bringing up costs! but i usually tell my mom something lower than the actual cost! I agree that you shouldnt skimp out for the HM though. Thats your time to relax and enjoy yourselves
