My FH is on the phone as I type this w/his mom who lives in Florida. Apparently, her friends seem to have a problem with the fact that I did not put his sister in our wedding because it's tradition?? HuH? Here we are 3 months away from the wedding..and NOW there is a problem? I don't understand? I only met his sister in February..and to be completely honest..the girl has issues. ALOT of them. Correct me if I'm wrong, but if we are paying for everything..how does the word 'tradition' get thrown in? If that were the case..then traditionally people should be helping us right? Sorry..just had to vent. Some people are unreal!

That ***** that they bring it up 3 months before. If it was such a problem I would think they would have said something earlier. Hope everything works out.

I don't think it's tradition and I don't think your FMIL should listen to her friends. If you and FH are paying for everything, you get the final say in who is in the wedding party and who attends the wedding. If you had known his sister for a long time and were very friendly with her, I could see asking her to be in the party. Since that is not the case, I think you and FH should stand your ground on this one. Good luck!

IT'S YOUR WEDDING! You get to choose who stands next to you on that alter - not your family or his, but YOU!!!! I didn't choose one of my SIL b/c I can't stand her and I got words too, but I really don't care - It's MY wedding!

I love when people throw in tradition when they want to.
FMIL made a stink when we said we were having a DJ instead of a band - she said that people will open the envelopes and take out $$ if they see a DJ.
well if you want us to have a band so bad, help out with some $$ lady!!!
I like my DJ, and if people dont give me any $$ thats none of your business!

I don't have my Brother in my wedding, b/c he has tons of probs and I can' t deal with his issues on my day...if people have anything to say about it they should try living with him! its YOUR wedding, you do what YOU want!

I hear ya... we're getting NO help from FH's side for the wedding, yet his sister asked my FH if her son, his 8 year old nephew, could be in the wedding, so he is. We weren't going to have ANY kids, but because his sister asked, now we are. So, now my 4 y/o nephew is the ringbearer, too. (p.s. - his mom also requested that we name our future son - no, I'm not pregnant - after my fh's late dad, which my mom is NOT happy about... she thought it was awfully nervy, especially since her daughter already has three sons - none of which are named after the dad! Yet NO HELP from them for the wedding!!! My family is bending over backwards for us, and making not one single request from us)

Thanks for listening ladies!! I just can't believe the nerve of some people. That woman stirred up something she didn't need to stir up in the first place. Everyone knew our bridal party was picked out by November....unreal. I told my FH..if anyone says anything to me they are going to hear it...enough is enough!!
