Hair and Make-up Trial

How far in advance do you have to book. For some reason I thought far in advance, but now I'm realizing that it only needs to be a few months before. What do you think?

Hey! I think if you are getting married around wedding season the sooner the better so you can choose the best person you find and they won't already be booked. I was thinking of doing it 4 months in advance or so.

I had my trial in July of 2005 for a July of 2006 wedding but that is b/c I wanted to make sure I got the hair & make up people that I wanted (they book quickly)!

Hi Yea, it's funnny because I live in Great Neck, but am getting married in Oceanside, so I called Nubest Salon in Manhasset and they said that they are not open on Sundays during the summer, so they are out. Then, I called Hair Expo in Oceaside, and the girl that I spoke to said to call back in May (she could have not known what she was talking about, though). So, now I'm confused. I heard about a make-up artist at Hair Expo, Sabrina, who is supposed to be good. I don't want her to book up...

I havent booked yet and I have about 11 weeks to my wedding.

I booked my make up trial for January 2nd week, and my wedding is on 5/13

Well, let me put it this way. I started calling around about a year in advance, and the first two I called were already booked! Then again, my wedding is a holiday weekend, its a really popular date.

I'm going to do it a year in advance. I'm NOt following the planning guide with anything. Especially knowing I have a twin here!!!!

I thought not very far in advanced, but I just contacted three make-up artists about 5 months before my wedding and they were booked!

I have a trial tomorrow - I'm so excited :)

I booked my hair and makeup in september and am having my trial in 2 weeks. There were a few people that were already booked for my day when I called in september.

Ok, so I booked my trial with Sabrina and Richard at Hair Expo in Oceanside. My trial is in two weeks. Yeah! I'm excited. The only thing is that I currently have baby bangs which I want to grow our by my wedding. So, I might have to see the hairdresser closer to the wedding as well. This will be good, though, just so I'll have the salon booked fo rmy date. Also, I was told that me and my 4 bridesmaids will have to start hair and make-up 3 hours before pics, meaning I'm getting up at 5:00 am to be at the salon at 6:00 am. If I got married on a Saturday night, though, my wedding wouldn't be over until 3 am in the morning.

well some people are very popular and of course book quicker... and you might not like the first couple... I'd say the earlier the better, then you can shop for who you like...
