Hair and Makeup Help

I''m looking for someone to do my hair and makeup. I would prefer if the makeup person would come to my house. Do you have any suggestions? ALso, I have curly hair and have been looking for different styles- any website suggestions for looking at hair? It seems all the brides have straight hair that I see in magazines! Thanks!

I have curly hair too and was trying to decide on a style. I'm in the process of looking for someone myself. I trialed with Elena - she wasn't good for me, but other girls loved her on this board. There is also Pauline - her and Elena are friends. Jackie from IMakeupU and her friend Margaret who does hair. I haven't tried Jackie or Margaret, because I believe they require a min number of girls - and I am not going to tell my girls that they have to get their hair done. MAC

I used Carol, from MAC at Macys in the Smithhaven Mall. She came to my house on the day of the wedding and was wonderful. She did my makeup, my sisters and one of the bridesmaids. We all loved the way it came out and would definitely recommend her. She is very patient and truly wants you to like the way you look.

The woman who did my hair & makeup for my wedding was wonderful. She works at a salon in Rocky Point, but does weddings on the side. She did my updo trial at the shop, but came to my hotel for the wedding. She's really inexpensive, but extremely talented. If you'd like her info, please let me know. michele

Lisa Bari in Oceanside was really good. I also know an amazing Hair person..Her name is June and she works out of MetroModes in North Bellmore. I was in a wedding and she did my hair...I loved it and so did the bride.

Hair and Makeup Recommendation

I can not say enough about how happy I was with Kristen from Enchante Salon and Day Spa in Smithtown. I originally found her through a recommendation here when she was at another salon. Everyone`s hair and makeup came out great. I have curly hair too, so I know how difficult it can be to find someone who knows how to deal with it. My mom and sister-in-law both have very thin, straight hair .. and both looked great! And my niece was adorable with her hair pulled up, and a string of pearls haloing around her head with little curls cascading around it. She doesn`t usually sit to have her hair fussed with, but was so eager to have her hair done that day by Kristen after seeing her grandma (my mom) getting done-up. Our makeup had a very natural look, and felt nice and light all day and night. I also have switched to using Kristen on a regular basis for haircuts since finding her earlier this year. Her name is Dina - I don't recall the name of her salon, but her cell # is 516-448-7865. She came all the way to Danford's on Labor Day Weekend at 6AM for my wedding and she brought another hairdresser to do the bridesmaids. The charge for an updo was $50 (and my MOH has hair down to her butt!) Dina did my hair and makeup for $50 - because I was the bride. All she asked was that I provide the makeup so I went to clinique and got what I needed - which I preferred and that we bring the hot rollers. Otherwise they came well prepared with styling products, etc. Everyone looked great and we were ready in plenty of time. I've even been told that I looked like Elizabeth Hurley in some pictures - wishful thinking, but nice to hear! If you call her, tell her Michele & Maryann say hi!
