Im still struggling with 'I look like a clown'. I know everyone says you need heavier makeup for the pics, Im just worried its TOO much.
She also put my hair pins around the perimeter of the little bun thing as well as in the center. Wondering if thats the best use of them? And the bun thing looks a little crooked.
Please throw honest thoughts and suggestions at me, I really appreciate the advice you girls dish out!
ETA: I got this done at Enchante Salon in Smithtown (Melanie)
ETA: I put this in a post below but it might get lost. Im pretty set on wearing my hair up. The neckline of my dress would look silly with any amount down. Also, my air is so fragile to the elements, I want to weather-proof it by wearing it up. Any suggestions about the part? Should I make it a side part?

Re: Hair and Makeup Trial Pics
i actually also agree with putting your hair down. The hairstyle is very pretty from the back but from the front it looks very simple and plain. I love your lip color and skin came out gorgoues! But i would go with a lighter eye shadow color for you only because this one seems too redish to me.

oooo.... Not liking the makeup. the lipstick is too strong and the pink on the eyes? i don't get it. It's not very natural looking. i can see why you feel like a clown.
I'm using Mya from cosmetic artistry. Pics of my makeup trial are in my album. She does a fantastic job and her prices are very reasonable. You can have beautiful makeup on your wedding day without looking clownish. What is with all this pink stuff anyway, you are not the first bride to show trials with this look and it just does not work in my opinion.
Good luck!

The hair is beautifully done - and one can tell they are skilled. Have you tried w/your hair half up/half down? I think you look stunning in your avatar picture w/your hair down.
Onto the makeup - I honestly do not think it's flattering on you. I think the colors are all off for your skin tone and your eye color. Yes, the makeup is applied heavier for the pictures and that it lasts, but it's not supposed to LOOK heavier.
This is what trials are for right?

I love your hair. I think that the style looks so pretty in the back. Unfortunately I have to agree about the makeup though. Yes, you should have more makeup on than normal for pictures, but I think that the colors are a little bit too unnatural. I think that a more subtle shade could be used for both the eyes and lips.

I think you should try going with your hair either all down, or half up and half down. I'm not liking the make-up at all. I guess for lack of a better word, it looks like 'wedding make-up'. Granted your getting married, but it looks like rust above your eyes, not flattering to me at all. A trial is a trial, so I would look into someone else. Good Luck.

Re: Hair and Makeup Trial Pics
I LOVE the hair. I think it's going to go perfectly with your dress. Remember you are piecing together and entire look. You're hair might actually look better down but it's all about the overall look. Loving the hair! I think you should keep the pins only in the back and not around the entire bun.
I do like the make-up but if you are not crazy about it there is time to have another trial done. I know you like more earthy tones rather than some of the more frosty pink colors. Is that airbrushed or powder based?

I think it looks great but if you don't feel comfortable wearing it then you should tone it down a bit. I didn't like my first trial b/c the makeup was too loud for me...so I went back for a second trial with more natural colors and LOVED it.

Re: Hair and Makeup Trial Pics
makeup~ i think you would look prettier with a more natural look over all...that way it looks more like you!
hair~ why dont you try out a few different styles? if you decide to keep the look above, then play around with the front to make it look more done. I actually like the way the back is done except for the placement of the hair clips. look up pics of other brides who used hair clips and play around with placement till you love it
you are so pretty i know you will find a look you love!

I just don't think the makeup colors are right for you...I just can't put my finger on it.
I like the back of hair, it looks really elegant. Not sure if I like how it looks from the front though.

Hey date twin -- can you believe we're in the teens?
Not liking the makeup -- I think it's the eye shadow color is not right. But, otherwise, I think the lip color is good on you

Re: Hair and Makeup Trial Pics
i love your hair!! however the makeup i just feel that the particular colors used with your skin tone and eyes dont go... Id say for the eyes to use a lighter color - maybe silver? or even a LIGHT gold - this looks more like a copper color.Id say stay away from the red based colors- like copper or bronze and go more for the lighter shades since you are pretty lihght skinned Also Id go for more of a sheer neutral lip color hope that helps you a bit!!! -

Re: Hair and Makeup Trial Pics
Make-up: I do like your lips actually but your eyes, I def. agree with the girls about having it be more natural looking and not so pink. Maybe browns are the way to go.
The Hair: I like the back but maybe have her part the front different to give it a little lift. You also have to picture....veil & tiara with it.
If you are still searching for someone let me know, I can help....i'm in the smithtown area.

Re: Hair and Makeup Trial Pics
Thank you Thank you thank you girls
The brutal honesty is NEEDED.
I think Im feeling you on the eye shadow... Im going to ask her to tone that down.
I wish I could wear my hair down, but its so kinky/wavy that any change in the weather/atmosphere will make it all fro-like and gross. I was hoping to weather proof it all by putting it all up. Plus, like Brit said, it goes better with the neckline of my dress.
I really really appreciate your honesty ladies! Thanks!

Re: Hair and Makeup Trial Pics
Hi, like Chrissy said above, I think you can tell these people are skilled at what they do. However I love your avatar pic with your hair down. Maybe try a half up/half down look? Or if you want a bun, mabye a bigger bun a little higher in the back (meaning not so far down/close to your neck). The front looks very simple, which may be the look you're going for, but I think they should either lift the front part of your hair a bit, or slick it all back some more.
For the makeup, I have to agree that the colors could be better. I would probably try a less pink color and go for softer and slightly warmer colors. The application doesn't look bad, I just think the colors aren't as flattering as they could be.

I agree with everyone saying that you would look gorgeous with your hair all down or half up. I feel like it frames your face better..

Re: Hair and Makeup Trial Pics
ok, here is it Brutally honest....I don't like your hair completely UP. Maybe it can be a little softer with a few pieces out? maybe put up and not so much back? The makeup looks heavy because you are solely focusing on your face. If you're set on the hair pulled back, the makeup needs to be softer. The clips ARE GORGEOUS though...really love it! XOXOXO Kitty
