So I was stalking some liwedding-ers pictures and I see that A L O T of you who aren't getting married until 2011/2012 are already doing hair and makeup trials....am I doing something wrong?! lol When are we future brides supossed to go for them?! I'm getting married 9-2-11..thanks!

it depends ... i think now is about a year or so from your wedding date so your coloring will be the same. i would go just to see if you like the person. you could get it done for a wedding or epics.
i am doing my makeup soon and my hair i will wait till i have my hairpiece and veil!

if you are getting married in high wedding season which I see that you are in september which is still quite busy i would say to start to look around 8 months out b/c certain artists book up fast. I'm still not booked with hair/mu and been to 2 trials and i have only 3.5 months left!
*edited to say that in my case all the vendors are still available but then again i'm getting married on an off day in january. i think you are still completely fine on time.

I didn't go for a hair/make-up trial until March for my May wedding. It was just fine!

I booked my hair and make up 6 months before our wedding. I had no issues.
I used Lauren from Beautiful Brides and Stacy from About Face Artistry.
I have nothing but AMAZING things to say about both of them.

There's no rush to do it. I knew my MUA is a little high in demand so I wanted to make sure that I got a trial with her and booked her early. I'm not even concerned with hair right at the moment.

I think it depends. If you're doing trials to figure out who you're going to use, then I'd start sooner than later so you can book the artist/stylist. But if you already know who you're using (like I did), you can wait. I knew from day one I'd be using my regular hair stylist, so I didn't do a trial until 2 months before the wedding.

I did my hair and Makeup trial 6 weeks before the wedding.
HATED the place.
Booked another (salon) and did a second trial 4 weeks before.
Beautiful.
The places I picked had great reputations. I left enough time in case one was crappy. It was.

I pretty much want half up half down and curly/wavy....not sure of a hair stylist yet. I've been to SOOOOO many places for past weddings as a bridesmaid and didn't really LOVE the outcome of any yet. *sigh* I am in a wedding in Oct and March, so I figure I'll try there and see if I love it or hate it haha. I did love Fox n Company though..but they are so expensive!
