So, I had about 3 hair trials, and I am having some troubles. Still haven't made a definitive arrangement for the wedding...
All I want to do is so simple! Just want to wear my hair completely down with a few decorative hairpins that I bought from the designer of my dress holding it off my face. Every person I have been to gives me a complicated updo.
I feel like I am at my wits end with this. The last person I went to put my hair up, and my hair is not highlighted underneath, so it looked like my hair was two colors. I am going this weekend to have my hair highlighted underneath now, although I still want to do the original down-do.
Does anyone have any advice? Good photos of down dos with wavy hair slightly pinned back to show my stylist? they say a picture is worth a thousand words!

Why did all three stylists give you updos when you want your hair completely down ? You have to be specific in telling them what you want. It doesn't sound like you are communicating that clearly enough.
Search the hair thread to see if you can find a pic of what you want. Look thru hairstyle magazines or the style books at the salon.
Good luck !

I told them I wanted it off my face, so they put it half up, but put a lot more of the hair up than I want, when I just really want it off my face...
Also, what is the best way for them to do loose curls? They used a curling iron, and it came out a lot more banana curly than I want.
I am thinking maybe I should just have it blown out straight and forget about the curls and stick my hairpins in myself.... Ugh!

Ahh, the barrel curl syndrome. All of the stylists want to do the barrel curls so all the brides look alike. Hot rollers make looser curls.
Are you going to a salon for your hair ? What area would you like to be in ?

I am having the same problem. I just had my hair trial and i wanted it half up and half down. i wasnt sure if i wanted a tiara or not so my girlfriend lent me hers, i love it. Anyway, she did the banana curls and i feel like it look more like a girl than a woman getting married. Like promish. lol. I dont know what it is. It is nice but it's not what I want either. So I too need some adivce or pictures. I cant find anything I like. This is the most stressful process of the wedding planning and I only have 28 days to make a final decision. lol. Help!

WOW! You totally nailed my issue on the head.... with the prom curls and woman v. girl. I am in my 30s and don't want to look like I am headed to my HS prom.
This is totally stressing me out too! I almost had a tantrum the other day when the lady put my hair all the way half up, and my hair was two colors and banana curly.
I like the hot rollers idea, but I have never used a hot roller before, and I have never had a salon use one on me. I normally blow my hair out straight. My normal salon is able to use the round brushes to do a blowout with some waves, but I have that frizzy curly hair, and I am worried that if there is even a touch of moisture in the air, my hair will blow up into a huge frizz.... I might take the chance though because I like this type of blowout better than the banana curl. I REALLY don't know what to do.... sooo can relate. Sorry about this rant!

I found with some hairdressers you have to be ADAMENT! I know I had a problem with this at first, but you are paying them to do your hair and you should at least be given something close to what you asked.
If they use a larger diameter curling iron you will get looser curls... you can also ask them to break up the curls a bit. The banana curls seem like a standard bridal hairdo so you might be able to say 'i want something glamorous with loose curls pulled slightly off my face but predominantly down. Nothing too bridal, more movie starlet' etc. If they start pinning it up, stop them.
