Hair Dilemma

Hair Dilemma

Me and one of my BM's have been using the same stylist for years - so naturally when he heard I was getting married he offered to do our hair. You'd think this was great - but here are the problems:

1) he's much more expensive than other hair stylists that are vendors on this site - because he will lose a day of work at the salon (he works in NYC)

2) he lives in NJ and doesn't have a car - so I have to arrange for his transportation

3) he was supposed to do my hair when I was a BM in my friends wedding in November - but he never got back to me - so I had to find someone else to do my hair at the last minute. I did speak to him about this and he claims it was a misunderstanding - and he lost his cell phone and never got my messages. Not so sure I buy into that...

So my BM is excited to use him, he assumes he's doing it - but I don't think I want to do this. What should I do? I don't want to insult him or upset my BM?

I wouldn't go for that. Tell him you have so much to worry about that day and him being in NJ you will have to worry about transportation...and what if something goes wrong (like the car breaks down or something), he will be so far away. Just say you would rather have someone close by do it. Then you can cheer up your BM by finding someone CHEAPER

Re: Hair Dilemma

If you don't want to use him, you shouldn't. I would simply explain to both him and your BM that as much as you love his work and love having him as your hair stylist (which you want to continue to do), you need to stick to a strict budget for the wedding. His price is more than you can afford for a hair stylist on your wedding day. Both he and your BM should be able to understand that.

Good luck!

ETA: Oooh - I like julz's transportation angle even better!

It's your wedding day - Let her know if she wants to use him she's more than welcomed to , but you want to go w/ someone else. - As for insulting him, YOU are paying HIM for a service, if you're uncomfortable w/ the idea that he may back out on you - Find someone else - No need to feel guilty !

I agree with everyone else. Stick with the truth. The lack of a car is a added hastle u don't need and he is out of your budget. End of story.
