Ok, so I have been going to the same guy for color and cut for the last 7 years and I love him to death. So when I got engaged, I go in to tell him and he starts screaming and almost crying (He kind of plays on the same team ). He automatically assumes that he is going to be doing my hair for the wedding and will not take no for an answer. I have never seen him do an up do and don't want to put all my eggs in one basket and I am not weaning him out, but I am afraid of going for a trial with someone else, loving them and then telling him that I am not using him.
You all know how sensitive hair stylist can get.
Any suggestions how to handle?

Re: Hair Dilemma
Why don't you go for a trial with him? He might surprise you. If you don't like it then you can say that your mom is hiring a whole makeover staff for you and the bp and you knew nothing about it. If I think of a better excuse I'll let you know.

Re: Hair Dilemma
Thats a tough one. Well, first off you are the bride and its your wedding day and you have to be 1000% happy with how your hair comes out, if he is going to get mad that you don't use him then oh well, don't stress it. But, instead of going to someone else first, y don't you get a trial with him and see how he does updo's, ya never know you may love his work and not want to even look further.

Re: Hair Dilemma
This is a hard one, but go for a trial with him, and see how you hair comes out, you may love it. Make a second hair trial with some one else just in case you don't like the way he does your hair. This way you have a backup!!! Remember you have to be happy - it's your wedding day, and yes people can get sensitive, but they have to understand how important your wedding day is to you!!!! Good luck!!!

That is what I was thinking, just go there first and I will probably fall in love because he is awesome, but on the other hand all he kept saying was 'Let's wait till you get your Tiara to do a trial' Hell I don't even have a dress! I just don't want to wait that long and then miss out on all the other great hair vendors booking upl

I know exactly how you feel because I'm in a similar situation. The only idea I have is to wait and tell her that the bridal party hired a hair/make-up team in for the day. I don't know if this sounds reasonable? If this doesn't work, find out if he travels, maybe you will get lucky and he doesn't! Tell him you need someone who will!

Tell him you're really anxious to do a trial because you have no idea how you want to wear your hair, so you don't want to wait.
Good luck. Just remember it's your day, your way. Do what is going to make YOU happy.

tell him you want to experiment with a few styles, and tell him you are dying for him to do a trial

Re: Hair Dilemma
You ladies are right, It's my day and I am the one that is going to suffer. I am going to make an appt with him to do my color in the next month and when I am there, I am just going to say that I want to start trying out some styles now.
The idea about the BP surprised me or something like that should work if this doesn't.
It is so funny, I have the biggest mouth when it comes to everything and I very rarely get stressed out about the little things and here I am scared of pissing off my hair stylist.

Re: Hair Dilemma
Absolutely have a trial with him. He is more familiar and experienced with your hair and sense of style than any other 'up-do specialist' could be. Give him a shot. If you don't like it then you can start looking at alternatives.
