I have wavy/curly hair and need a new blow dryer for when I straighten it. Can anyone recommend a good one that will keep frizz down? I know it helps to have that nozzle on it. Thanks!

Re: Hair dryer for straightening??
I don't understand this post. You need a big round brush for straightening and some straightening or anti frizz products. The hair dryer doesn't matter.

Re: Hair dryer for straightening??
I find the hair dryer does make a difference to me. To me it seems like those high power onces dry my hair too fast before I can really work out the curl and they all seem to burn out fast. I had one I loved but they don't sell it any more...it was by Conair. I go thru dryers so fast..the one I have now is pretty good but I can't remember the name.
I actually get a lot of frizz when I use a round brush. I think I don't know how to use it right. I use a regular vent brush..that I have had for years and can't find one yet to replace it and it needs replacing! I also bought the Rusk (recommended on this site) and it works good but if I use too much or apply it too close to my roots my hair gets greasy becasuse my hair is pretty thin and oily to begin with.

Re: Hair dryer for straightening??
Me too November. My hair blows out the best with a big round brush. BUT Denise makes a good point about the burning out and being too hot on the dryers. My hair needs sustained heat to make it straight but it can't actually be too hot, if that makes sense.
My advice to the girl who asked the question is to get a dryer with at least 3 heat settings (high, medium and low) and at least 2 speed settings as well. You'll pay more for it, but when I run it on medium at a high speed, it works really well.
I can't believe I just wrote all of that about hair drying!

Re: Hair dryer for straightening??
I asked b/c it seems like there are so many different ones out there, Pantene even makes one now!! Just wondering if any are better than others. I had a vidal sassoon ionic or something that seemed to work on frizz for a while but then it stopped. Also, what's the best straightening product? I have fine hair, but a lot of it, so it tends to get weighed down by heavier stuff like frizz-ease.

I like Hair Relaxing Balm by Phytologie. Its $$$ but totally worth it. Hair comes out smooth and soft and straight!
I also like Kiehl's Silk Groom.

Re: Hair dryer for straightening??
I don't have curly hair but when I want my hair super straight I use a hot air brush. It's like a low power hair dryer and round brush in one.
It's easier for me to use just this then struggle with a dryer and brush (I am not coordinated enough for that:)
I use this with the tiniest bit of pomade from Aveda and it works really well for me.
Edited to say that I dry my hair a bit with a regular dryer with the nozzle pointing down my hair, not from underneath or the front, that makes it a little frizzier. When it's just about dry I pull out the hot air brush.

I have frizzy, wavy , curly hair and blow dry it straight with the SUPERSOLANO... It is a professional dryer, close to 2200 watts and I can blow dry my hair stick straight- very think and unmanageable I might add- in about 10 minutes!!! I love it and sing its praises!!!

Re: Hair dryer for straightening??
I do the same as Christine. Regular hair dryer followed by a hot air brush. I have one made by Conair. Sometimes, I also use a straightening iron. I also have an ionic hair dryer, but I don't think it really makes a difference.

Ah! I would second the Supersalerno - its a professional hairdrier (costs a little more) but totally worth it and it lasts a long time. You can get them at Ricky's.
I also have fine hair that gets frizzy if left alone and I love Bumble & Bumble Straight.

I would totally agree with the SUPERSOLANO they run between $50-70 but they get my curly hair straight!
or another great professional dryer is the Elchim.

I have wavy long hair and I use frizz ease and a diffuser on my blow dryer to get the straight look without burning my hair.

Re: Hair dryer for straightening??
i know it sounds crazy, but i found the best thing for my frizzies is Citra Shine, shine polisher (or something like that). you can get it at CVS. it is awesome, but may be too heavy for really fine hair. i second the round brush. Novemberbride, try taking a section of hair, starting at the roots with the round brush and roll & pull down with the blow drier following you the whole way. the key is the tension!! (wow, cannot believe i just wrote all that - i've become high maintenance!)
