So...I chopped my hair off and then that week Rich proposed!! Needless to say I haven't cut my hair since. I've been trying to grow it and of course it has gotten longer just not long enough. Can anyone tell me about extensions? I know there are a few different kinds but I don't know the difference...I would love to get them for my wedding but I don't know how much they are...if they are annoying...etc! TIA!!

Re: Hair Extensions...
theres 2 to do for a longer period of time and 1 type to do for a day or so
theres one where its sewn into your hair. You buy tracks of hair, so its one long piece that goes straight across. They will section your hair off and braid a small part and they sew the track of hair into the braid. You'll need about 3-4 tracks lets say. This is the least expensive. It can be about $200 with the hair or some charge a little more but usually around that price
THen the other way is to have just strands of hair bonded into your own hair. Salons use different methods of bonding it into your own hair. Whether its a certain type of glue, some use this vitamin based type glue. Of course this one also takes alot longer to put in since its just strands of hair and also alot more expensive. MANY places charge about $1k-2k depending where you go. I did find it at some places for about $800, you can get it for less but not much less. With this one though you just have to be careful when taking it out bc it can rip some of your own hair out. The above one can be done without really ripping any hair out
then theres clip on extensions which most brides on here use. They use it for the day of. I used this too. I had real extensions before and honestly had no desire to have them on my HM. It took me alot longer to wash and blow dry my hair when i had real extensions.

Re: Hair Extensions...
I have had them in but just for highlights not for lengths. They were glued in and lasted 4 months. They were great just made your hair a little knottie. Where I want they were $10 each but they were thin pieces so if you were going for length and your hair is thick you would need a lot.

yes they look natural, if they didnt then i wouldn't have done it . Make sure its real hair though, my clip on extensions were real hair and nobody realized i had extensions. My hair stylist that came to my house to do my hair supplied the hair.
here are pics on my wedding day
i was trying to find a pic of the back of my hair, i know i have somewhere...but here is the side...tried to get different angles, and wind blowing through it so you get the idea

claudia pedala...she does cost more than others but the clip on extensions which are real hair she doesnt charge extra for. So for me it was great, bc if she didnt supply them then i would've gone to a salon to get real ones so in the end would've paid more actually.

well if you are going to hire a stylist to come to you day of, wait until you book one. many of them do this, infact most wedding hair stylists will do clip on extensions on you if you want length or volume. They wont do real extensions. Some will supply it, others have it but you have to pay for it and some ask you to go out and buy it.
and again, make sure to ask if its real hair. If its not then what happens is that fake hair is hard to curl and if it does then it wont stay. The fake hair will start straightening out while your own hair will remain curly and then you'll have half your head curly and half straight, ive seen this happen lol

its not a rip off, if its real hair then usually its even more actually so dont feel like you got ripped off bc its actually a good price. The fake ones can cost close to that.

roseanna amador (CosmoNY)- vendor on here has her own line of 100% human hair clip ins that are great. i bought them for my wedding and she did my hair day of. i also used them again for our anniv pics we got recently. oh and since theyre real hair, you can dye them, cut them, etc. i had them cut and i dyed them for the anniv pics.
here are pics-
wedding
anniv
even the clip ins are pricey IMO but worth it, since ones like these are reusable. ive also had great length semi-permanent extensions twice and those last for like 4-6 mos or so but are much more expensive and high maintenance.
HTH!

Question for those that used the clip on extensions for their wedding...
Did you feel that the extensions were secure enough? I am nervous about one of them flying off while i'm on the dance floor.

yes they are very secure, its a snap on clip that is put tightly into your hair. I danced, jumped around and not once did it get loose or have any problems with my hair

yep! very secure. they usually tease the hair in that area before clipping in which helps alot!

hahaha i can see why you think that. Its funny bc i went to one salon to get my hair curled, not for the wedding but for an event. I brought in my clip on extensions for them to put it in for me and then curl the hair. Well there were these girls there who say this and came over to ask about the clip on extensions bc they never had seen it and where they could get it. The guy doing my hair said that they make them if they want, the girl asked how much and the guy told them $1200
