OK so I tried on dresses on Monday and the one I thought I'd hate (a strapless) I loved...so I started playing with my hair as well and while I always thought I'd wear it in an updo it looked SO much better down...
So 2 questions:
those of you who plan on wearing your hair down - are you worried about it looking good all night? Our reception spot can get really windy and I'm worried that if we do pictures on the golf course my hair will look like sh*t by the time we get to the reception. I really want to take some pictures on the tee....
and if ANYONE has any pics of half up/half down styles I'd love to see them!

I think it depends on what kind of hair you have. My best friend wore her hair half up/half down and hated it... she was dancing all night and got a little sweaty, I guess, and her hair (the part that was down) kept sticking to her neck. She said that she wishes that she wore it up. She also has very thick hair, which is why I said that it might depend on the type of hair that you have. It may not be that way for everyone. I also agree with you, I would be concerned about the wind, and even the rain. If you wear your hair down and it rains, it might lose it's style or get frizzy. I have long curly hair and I originally thought I wanted to wear some or all of it down, but since half of my wedding day will be outdoors, I'm not taking any chances! It's an updo for me!

I had the same concerns also because I'm sure it will be windy where I'm getting married because it's right off the water, but I asked my stylist and she said there is no way that my hair is moving with all the hairspray and junk that will be in it. I'm sure I'm might have to do a tiny 'primp' after the pictures but nothing major.
I just did my hair trial last weekend (sorry no pics) and afterwards I sat outside for like 4 hours to make sure it still looked good and it did!!!!

I wore my hair half up and half down. I danced all night and it rained - but I had no problems at all.

I am wearing mine half up half down. I know that I'll be hot while dancing, but I don't like how I look with all the hair up. And I want to show off my curls. And there is always airconditioning in the hall.
For the formal pictures, if you have the hair half up, the part that's on the top won't be in your face and the bottom part shouldn't be too bad to manage. Hairspray and other products should help to weigh it down a bit too.
An in case of rain, we're taking pictures inside.

I had my hair half up half down... It wasn't really intricate.. just a side part with the top half pulled back, sort of weaved into a 'bun' and then the pieces came down and everything was flat ironed.
It was misting the night of the wedding but my hair didn't frizze at all. & I didn't sweat at all.
I also went through this. I have a bad habit of playing with my hair so I decided to just wear it up. I feel like I won't have to think about it (or worry about it) if it's up. They always put so much spray in it, even if it's down and that could get messy!

Meghan, also once our proofs from engagement pictures are in (Lia is mailing them to us soon), I'll post a few pictures of my hair on the windy day. No clue how it looked yet, b/c I haven't seen the proofs but had my hair down and up and everything in between while trying to manage it.
