Hair Issues.. what to do when you have very fine hair???
Hey Girls,
Just wondering if you have any idea's? tricks? etc.
I never had straight hair my entire life, only when I have my hair blown out would it be straight but now since my surgery and weight loss, it's pin straight, no bounce, can't hold a curl, my hair used to always be my 'signature', and now I'm at a loss. I recently started taking Biotin pills from GNC, but I'm willing to try anything...

What I've recently found that works well is the Mane & Tail Shampoo (the big yellow & blue bottle) and a combo of prenatal pills. I have very fine straight hair that grows slowly, and in the past month I see a big difference.

I feel your pain!!! My hair has thinned cin the last few years. It used to be a huge head of ringlets and I miss them! Get some extra hold gel, the herbal essence one is the only one that will hold curl in my hair now.

I've never had curly hair - but my hair was once a lot thicker. I don't know what happened to it...it's so thin.

I've always have relatively thin, fine hair. It's never really held a curl and 'volume' is something my hair has never seen.
A couple of things - first off, a lot is in the cut. I recently got a slightly shorter, layered, kind of shaggy cut, and it really maximizes my hair type a lot more than longer or even-length hair did.
Also, a nice foam body-building mousse can work wonders.
And when your hair is wet, let it air dry for a bit, and then add the mousse to the roots, turn your head upside down, and blow dry it, really focusing on the roots, until it is mostly dry. Then you can flip it back up and just smooth it out with the blow dryer and a round brush.
good luck!

I have straight - I mean STRAIGHT, thin hair. Little kid hair - I am contemplating buying some hair!
Maybe a small something - I want a messyish up-do with some curls.... If they can't achieve that at the hair trials, I'm prepared to toally CHEAT!

Jen, try Nioxin Shampoo and Conditioner. I think you can get it at salons and beauty supply places. Make sure you get the right formula for your hair as they have formulas for color treated hair. I used it at one time in my life (ahem you know ) and worked well for when I needed it.

I have very straight and 'thin' hair now due to Japanese Straightening. If you're concerned about your hair for the day of - I highly recm'd using extensions - it adds fullness and length (if you want it.)
Here's my hair before:
Here's my hair w/extensions:

Jen- you've seen how fine and flat my hair is. i agree with the poster who said the hair cut makes a difference, a shaggy at the shoulders cut made a world of difference for me.
If you are talking about for the wedding, I had extensions put in. Temporary ones held in place with toupee clips.

My hair is also very fine, for the wedding I just grew it out as long as I could and I even bought extensions, but for the wedding my hairdresser did not even need them and the way she styled my hair it looked very full. You can see pictures in my review.

I have very fine, baby thin hair as well. I got extensions, but ended up not liking them at all. I got the perm. ones, they annoyed the heck out of me and were seriously uncomfortable. I switched to the Progaine shampoo, by the makers of Rogaine and that seems to work as well as RUSK Radical Cream that I put in my hair before I blow dry. That is the only thing that gives me any thickness at all. I've been using it for years now, and i keep trying other products but keep going back to that one.

coloring your hair adds texture, too. my hair is thicker when it has color or highlights.
