Hair & Make-up help!

Hair & Make-up help!

I am getting married on Sunday, Sept. 3rd at 11:30am -- smack in the middle of Labor Day weekend. The wedding is at Timebr Point Country Club in Great River (near Sayville) and we need to be there by 9:00am for pictures. I was looking into having a hair & make-up person come to the house (have read great things about Osaka and the Hair Genie), but my mother has made it clear that she would MUCH prefer going to a salon. There are six people that need hair(including the bride), and 3 - 4 that will need make-up.

A friend of mine went to the Downtown Hair & Nail Salon on main street in Sayville and LOVED it, but I haven't seen much about them on liweddings. Does anyone have any recommendations of a salon that might be willing to open its doors at the crack of dawn on a Sunday morning???

Thanks so much for your help!

I am in the same boat as you. I am getting married on a Saturday morning just a couple of weeks before you. I was going to look into a place in East Islip called Harvey Allen and a place in Sayville called Salon on Main. I don't know if they open early though. I might even just hire a couple of hair and make-up people to come to my house and have everyone there since I live close to TP.

Quick question for you on a side note. Are you getting all of your pictures taken at TP or are you going anywhere else? I was thinking about going to the Bayard Cutter Arboretum first because the grounds are gorgeous there and it is right down the road. I just feel like it is so early that I don't know if I can do both.

Great idea about the arboretum... The two factors to consider are time and transportation. If you are getting married at a church and have transportation to the reception, it probably wouldn't be a big deal to make one additional stop. However, if the ceremony and reception are both at Timber Point, you'll just need to wake up a bit earlier. One thing to consider is whether or not this adds to the photography cost. WOW! Didn't mean to be such a downer! If you can work it out, I think that the resulting pics would be beautiful!

We are taking all of the pics at TimberPoint. We have a great photographer (we hope!) who is letting us bring along some props to stage some goofy, fun shots. As such, we won't have time to travel.

Good luck and keep me posted on who you find for hair & make up!

Downtown is a really good salon. I know a lot of people who go there. You should definately check them out. I plan on giving them a call too for my BM's.

Thanks for the advice. You didn't depress me too much :) We are having the ceremony at Timber Point too so I think our timing will be crazy. Plus, I had to hire a limo for 1 hour and pay them for 3 hours just to bring us to arboretum and Timber Point. If we just do TP then I might try to see if we can do a quick pick up and drop to get everyone there.
