Michelle-Im glad it worked out for you with that place. Your hair looked so gorgeous that day. I am going to go for a trial with Bella at Mary Annes after the New Year. I'll let you know what happens. Im not going with my headpiece though, It is still at the bridal shop and I think I can tell without it if she can do what I want. I'd rather know earlier than later especially since I have something specific in mind. 'I have a vision...' :o)
Absolutely-it is all going to well worth it! Sorry, don't know the going rate for florists yet-haven't gotten that far. Actually, I did go to one early on and was so turned off by them. They just seemed a little too cheesy for me and all of their stuff looked the same.

Do you not recommend going there? I asked this since you actually did a trial with them. I was suggesting them to you and then also considering based on conveniece & price and that I did like MaryAnne herself, she is always very accommodating but what did you think of the updo they did? Did she (bella) seem really confident or not? I want to go to someone who is confident that they can do what I want or else I will be nervous. The picture suggestion is a great idea if you like the trial so they remember. Thanks
Sadly, the way of the general business world is not customer friendly, it's simply making money. If only these places would just realize how over the long term, especially in this industry, word of mouth could mean a gold mine. Let's face it, just at this site alone look at all the good comments that are shared...along with the negative comments. Now imagine all those out there on Long Island and in the city that don't come to this site but go away with definite feelings regarding weddings they have attended.

Yes, thanks it does help. I guess for $25 for the trial (or was it $35?) it's worth it. Im going to take your suggestion for bringing the headpiece. The only problem is that they are doing some extra work on my headpiece and she's not going to start until after my fitting on Jan 27th so I wont have it till Feb. I really want to try to be settled on the hair earlier. I dont know, I may be worrying about it more that I need to. As I'm writing this, I am reconsidering Christies, I have been there before and Im sure they are innovative. It is also less than a mile from my mothers apt. My other concern about MaryAnnes is that I have myself, MOH, bridesmaid & my mother to be done and I want to be ready by 9:15, photographer is coming at 9:30. I would prefer more that 1 person doing all our hair. Because I dont want to be there at 6am. Even 7, I can deal with but 6am is ungodly. I am so not a morning person and here I am getting married in the morning. Aren't you glad all this worrying is over with?

Thank you, this is definitely good stuff to think about. The more I think about it, the more I want 2 people doing our hair. I definitely don't want to rush myself. I will let you know. I hope your first married holidays have been wonderful so far. How does the new last name feel? (Haha I'm just assuming you changed it. I can't wait..especially, I have had a difficult last name my whole life and his is so easy)
Unfortunately, I don't think getting the girls dresses is going to come so easily. We kept the party small, just the best man/matron of honor, plus one usher and one bride's maid. My bride's maid works with me in an office of just three workers which limits our days off together. Add to that the fact that my matron of honor lives out of state and travels standby, and it has been making it next to impossible to get them together to try dresses.

Christies - Michelle B.
I called Christies and told them I would need to be home by 9:15 and they told me they cannot accommodate me. Hmmmmmmn. Well, I guess I rather they be honest with me. I suppose I have to have someone come to my place I wish I could get it done Friday night and sleep standing up. OK, onto plan C...
Decide on how many pictures you want in your album, if you want parent albums, etc. Shop around and see how many pictures are offered in a package and what the going rates are. That way you can get more for your money.

Check with some salons/spas. A place by me (which is in Brooklyn) will open the salon early, but you have to pay a fee for them to do it. This place is $100 for each hour early, plus the fee for doing your hair. It is expensive, but is it an option.
