Last weekend I had a pretty disappointing hair and makeup trial. I went to my regular salon which I absolutely love, but the girl who did my hair said that since I'm wearing a strapless dress it would be too bare to have my hair all pulled back in a low bun, even with a little lift. I even have Audrey Hepburn bangs, so it's not like there would be no hair around my face at all! Needless to say, she did this hairstyle - this low ponytail thing with curls pulled to the side - and it was nice, but not what I wanted.
Anyway, my question for y'all is what your opinion is... do you think strapless gowns call for a looser hairstyle? Is it too bare not to have hair down? I know we're in the age of 'anything goes' but what do you think?

Re: Hair Q
It depends on the dress. I see no reason why you can't wear your hair all up with a strapless dress. I'm wearing a strapless dress with my hair down -- but I'm wearing my hair down b/c that is how I like it, not because of the dress.
I'd be more concerned that the hairdresser isn't willing to give you what you want.

Re: Hair Q
my dress is strapless and I'm wearing my hair all up -- it's a matter of preference. Having my hair down all day would bother me and since my hair doesn't hold a curl, it would look yucky by 3 o'clock!
Do what you like best for you... don't listen to the stylist

Re: Hair Q
You need to be happy. I am wearing mine half up half down with a strapless but I don;t look good with my hair back. My trial is June 3 I hope she does what i ask. Question to ask yourself. Do you want someone who is going to do your hair the way you want it or the way she wants it??????

I think it looks a lot more elegant with your hair up!!! Don't listen to the stylist.

Re: Hair Q
Do you have any pictures from the trail?
I think if your dress is strapless and your hair is up maybe wear a bigger necklace so it's not as bare (as the stylist said)

It's your hair and your wedding. Do it the way you want.

Re: Hair Q
IMO, the fancier the dress, the more 'polished' the hairstyle should be. i am wearing a strapless ballgown style dress, and my hair will be pulled back in a low bun (partly because that is what i like, partly because i have fairly short hair). i say, go with what makes you happy and comfortable!

I think it's what kind of look you are going for. I think that both up, down or half up and down look good with any types of dresses..depends on your veil and headpiece too.

Re: Hair Q
You can absoluely wear your hair up with a strapless gown - it's what you want not what your stylist wants taht counts :)
My sister had a strapless gown at her wedding and wore her hair up, I think she was beautiful.
Try it out and see how you like it :)

Re: Hair Q
I don't think that you should have to wear your hair a certain way b/c of your dress. I have a strapless dress and am wearing my hair in a low loose bun with some height on top.
