hair question

ok so i want curls in my hair and now my worry is are they going to hold all day? or aleast for pictures? and what can they do in order to make them saty?

my hair stylist recommended (1) not washing your hair for 2-3 days before styling it, (2) using gel when styling and a curling iron...(3) lots of hair spray when done.

not sure if that helps but I have been trying it out so far, and the curls have held for a few hours!
