anyone know of a good method of hair removal for above the lip? waxing causes me to break out (and its painful bc the area is so senstive..) in that area and i cant think of any other way. the hair is blonde so its not megaobvious but it drives me nuts! nair doesnt work for me and i think threading would cause me to break out as well. any recommendations??

Re: hair removal
I find threading to be easier on the skin then waxing. There is still a little redness but it's from the hair being pulled out - like tweezing not from the hot wax. Also, I went ot one place that has wax for sensative skin.
I don't know of other hair removal techniques.

Re: hair removal
my mom tried threading and a day later she broke out. She has gone several times since and no reaction - for some reason only the first time! I am too scared to try.

Re: hair removal
I bleach mine to keep it blond (its not dark like a man LOL but still too dark for my liking). I do want to start waxing but it also makes me break out. I think I am going to start trying places out that way by the time wedding comes around I will be ready and hairless!!! LOL

Re: hair removal
For laser removal, my dermatologist charges $600 for six sessions over 12 months.
I REALLY wanted to do this, but I haven't been able to justify the expense with all the other money flying out the door to vendors. I get waxed and it's fine for me - though it's not permanent.
How much is electrolysis?

600 per session, or all together?

Re: hair removal
Electrolysis is roughly $20-$30 per 15 minute session. In the beginning you'd go nearly every week, and then once a month, then once every few months until once in a blue moon.
Laser sounds great, although its not considered permanent, and being paranoid as I am -- I'm a bit worried about possible long term effects that haven't been found yet since its so new...

i am a real ****er for pain or i think i would try the electrolysis (sp???) i wound up going for another waxing today after work only because it is irritating the sh*t out of me! i am just so paranoid that i have this horrible 'stache' that jumps out everytime i talk to someone! my friends say i am NUTS and have never ever noticed hair, but you know how it is when you know it's there! LOL! i keep thinking, 'okay, maybe this time i wont break out!' we'll see by tomorrow midday if i break out ridiculously!

Re: hair removal
Laser hair removal only works on areas with dark hair. If the hair above your lip is blonde I don't think laser treatment will be effective. If you want to get more information try calling Advanced Dermatology, they do laser hair removal. They have offices in W. Islip, Roslyn, Fresh Meadows and Manhattan. Good luck
