you ahve to be careful.... she got it done in a prestigous salon in the city... she has been doing it for almost 2 years now
she had teh healthiest most shiniest hair and now it looks like crap! she knows it
she paid alot of money for it

my hair dresser said that is what happens after a while... it is not great for your hair
and you shouldn't do it if your hair os color treated

Be careful where you go to do it...my girlfriend did it and after a few weeks it was curly again, but a bad curl, not her original curls. She has to let it all grow out now. I have heard from alot of people it doesnt always come out straight. Good luck!

Re: Hair Straightening

I had mine done at a place in NJ and it was inexpensive and I LOVE it- the best thing i ever did for myself. I don't color my hair but it's healthier because I don't blow dry it or flat iron it!

I did it at Hair Vllage in Woodside.

Cost $150-$185 depending on hair length. I love it. I am going to do it again end of June.

i had in done in nyc ....hayato. I recommend it to everyone. I don't have to blowdry of iron my hair and it never even thinks of frizzing.

Re: Hair Straightening

I got it done a year ago and loved it.
I also recommended it to two people and they were both happy.
It is an authentic Japanese salon, my Japanese co-worker recommended.
It was in the city, HairMates.
And it was a lot cheaper than most places, $220.
It lasted for a good six months. Even now my hair is still not as curly.
I am just too broke to get it done again.

Re: Hair Straightening

My sister is a stylist at a wonderful well respected salon and they wont do the Japanese straightneing...for some people this type of straightening is ok..but it depends on the quality of your hair..do you color it alot, have any bleach etc in it ,even from long ago that has been colored over? It depends on alot of things, there are other types of straightneing that salons do that can also be Japanese straightneing..but also dont last as long. Go to a salon and speak to someone who you completely trust..hope this helps!

Re: Hair Straightening

I had it done twice and I LOVE it. I posted many times on this topic, so do a search for more information. My advice is to go to a place that does a LARGE quantity of TR. Most of the well known salons only do one a week. There is a place called Hair Village in Woodside that mainly does TR. It is $150. Many ppl I know including myself have gone there.
