Hair Trial Confusion

Hair Trial Confusion

Hi ladies. I just went on my first hair trial. I loved the style she did (half up, half down, curls in the back), but by the time I got home less than an hour later, most of the curls fell out. I have straight, somewhat thin hair and the stylist told me she'd use more spray on the day of the wedding, so I'm wondering if it's just my hair that won't hold a curl? I'm planning on getting extensions. I also don't want to spend a ton of $$ going on a bunch of trials. I'm wondering how long your hair held up after your trials?

Mine held up very well, but this is somewhat typical for me. My hair takes curls very well unless it is the most humid day of the year. I got the same speech about using my product on the day. Im sure if you tell her at some point that you were very please but that the curl fell out, she will be able to figure out that your hair needs a specific type of product or something along those lines..

Also, don't forget the dirty hair rule! Dirty hair always holds better. I was in dance my whole life and my hair always looked best during dress rehearsal because I was able to have dirty hair. For the performances, however, since they were following other performances, I always had to wash it before and the style never held as well.

I haven't had a trial yet, but I have very straight, fine, thin hair, and it NEVER holds a curl. This is something I worry about too, especially since you will need your hair to be done up alllll day. I would not be happy if the curl dropped an hour after the trial either. I agree with the above dirty hair does work, the one time my hair stayed beautifully curled was my 8th grade graduation (yes I remember specifically the 1 time lol) when I hadn't washed it in 2 days, and my mom and my aunt sat there for hours curling my hair lol.

So for my wedding day I will be relying a long on extensions, extension hair tends to curl very easily and last a while, so that should help you too, but I would aim to get trials done with some clip in extensions so you can get the feel of how it will look. Or if you find a miracle woman that can make your hair stay curled book her!! lol
Good Luck, and don't worry you are not alone!

My hair is naturally very curly, but it's also thin. I wore clip-in extensions for my trial and they curled beautifully and held the curl pretty well. I actually had to flat iron them on a low setting to get them straight again because brushing alone didn't work. I'm sure the extra hairspray will help too!

Thanks ladies. I'm going to try a trial with a different stylist but bring extensions to that one! Which ones did you buy?

My hair stayed curled until the next day! I have pretty thick hair, though. My best friend used extensions for her wedding and her hair stayed beautifully. I don't know what brand, but they're clip ins and she got them from Sally's for $100.

My hair is the same exact way - I have pin straight, thin hair. It looks like I straighten it when it air dries and I can't stand it. I'm going to do a trial with extensions so I can be sure that they will hold a curl. I know it's going to be more money, but I'd rather be sure that my hair will look the way I want the day of and stay that way!

I bought 14' long clip in extensions (100% human) from a store called Popcorn in Central Islip. The store was in a sketchy area, but it was huge and almost all hair stuff (wigs, pieces, extensions, and every hair potion you could think of). The guy behind the counter was amazing! I told him that I've never used any kind of extensions or hair pieces or anything and he immediately started holding up extensions to my hair to get the perfect color match and length. I bought 2 packs of clip ins with 6 wefts of hair each (some were wider and had more hair on them than others because of where they should be placed) at $40 per pack. He showed me a video of how to put them in, but I just brought them with me to the trial and the stylist took care of everything. She even said that, if I felt like the clips were too 'bumpy' in my hair, we could remove the hair wefts from the clips and use hair tape to install them so that it would be smoother. With all the teasing she did, the clips were totally camouflaged, so I didn't worry about it.

I have the same kind of hair and my curls fell too. So I am going to do another trial but I want to invest in extensions first.
