Hair Trial nightmare!!!!!

I had a hair trial on Sunday in RVC...the style was all loose, and the girl said that on the day itself it won't be, and you won't see the clips, and it will be slicked back more...Here I am thinking, ok but I'm paying you to do it like the day itself, so I asked her to tighten it so I could get a better idea of what it will look like since this is the trial...so she used more hairspray to smooth it out. By the time I got home, 10 minutes later, the whole thing came out...what the hell !!!!! I paid $50 for what!!!! My mother was po'd, so she called them and they told her that 'well, if you don't like it, maybe you should have made an effort to show up. And, your daughter ripped the tiara out of her hair!' I could not believe how nasty they were, and to say I ripped it out, NO---she took it out both times, so I don't know what her problem was...anyone have any suggestions of where to go for hair trials where they more helpful and accoomodating?

I'm sorry to hear about your bad trial experience. I had a trial last week and my hair fell out within 10 minutes as well. AND I paid $125 for it!! I called and spoke to the owner and she said they expected my hair to fall out and they would put more stuff in my hair the day of. If I wanted another trial, I'd have to pay another $125!!! Are you kidding me??!!

I don't know of any stylists in the RVC area, but I can def. relate to your frustration! A lot of girls recommended Jenn the Hair Genie, but she was already booked for my day. Maybe you can check her out?

I don't get this 'your hair will be better on the day of' thing! What the hell is the trial for?!?

So sorry that happened. I'm getting mine done in Oceanside at Salon Montage on LBR. I'm using Marie, but all the updo girls in there are great!

Thanks...I actually drove to Salon Montage later on that day to see if I could set up a trial with them, since there much closer to my house than the place in RVC but they were closed on Sunday....I'll have to call them today...I remember hearing the name on this site. I don't know how to contact Mia..is she in Nassau?

I highly HIGHLY recommend Mya from Cosmetic Artistry. She is on her and her work is amazing. She will come to you for a trial and the day of. I would still call and complain to the salon though. I've noticed that the salons don't always do updos and styles that last, as someone who only does weddings knows what will stay for more than 10 hours

Definitely have a trial with Marie or (forgot the other updo girls name) at montage... they are great! Marie has been cutting my hair and my moms for SO many years. Good luck!!

I'm using Sarah and Brigid Rock, and have always heard good things about them on here, but haven't had my trial yet.

If I were you, I would definitely call the owner of the salon and tell her exactly why they lost your business for your wedding day...The way they treated you was just unacceptable.

I kinda understand the way you feel. My first hair trial the girl kept telling me on the day of your hair will be smoother and higher. The bobby pins were sticking out everywhere, my hair was all frizzy. I felt the same way If I am paying you for a trial then she should give me what I paid for. For my secong Trail I sued Mia she is amazing she is so sweet. She is doing bith makeup and Hair I have pics in my community album. Fm me if you have any questions.

I am using Sarah and Bridget too- My hair lasted for hours and hours and I had to take it apart myself and wash it before it would move. She will travel to you- FM me if you want her #

I went for a hairtrail w/ a LIW vendor..I dont want to say her name..but i was also so unhappy! I got the same line ' it will look better that day'. If you cant make it look good now, what makes me think you will make it look good the day of the wedding!? I even asked her if she could fix it and she started giving me an attitude..try someone else if ur not ahppy

I had a trial with someone that came highly recommended from the girls on this site. I wasn't 100% happy with it that day, asked her to fix it..she basically moved a bobby-pin around so it looked just the same. I later emailed her asking of we could do a re-trial at some point and she told me I didn't need one and said she's positive she could get it perfect the day of.
I had already booked her and wound up canceling her.

I canceled someone who did the same thing (the it will be tighter the day of). At first it didn't come to my mind, but after looking back on it, the whole thing was not a situation I wanted to be in, as I was uncomfortable with this person and just canceled.

I'm sorry you had a bad experience, it's ridiculous for them to charge you again. I know of two stylists that can come to you for a trial, one be Mia from Bridal*Lounge, and the other is Roseanna Amador of Cosmo NY. I don't know of any salons in the RVC area though.
