So I 've been speaking back and forth with someone who was recommended to me for hair. Then I get an email last nightsaying she has a bride who wants to book her for the same day. She told me I need to book a trial AND make a deposit or else she's going to give my date away to this girl. I totally agree that if I'm not going to take the date, she should give it to someone else. But when we initially spoke, she said I have until the end of June and then she'll call me to see where we stand. I also ordered my headpiece which hasn't come in yet, so she said call her once it does and then we'll book a trial date.
First of all, I'm upset I only have 24 hours to decide when she told me I have until the end of the month!! Then I emailed her back last night not long after she wrote to me, and I have yet to hear back from her. Second, why should I give a deposit without having had a hair trial first?! Is it just me??? I don't know- I know there are a lot of people out there for hair but I'm really disappointed.

I'm sorry to hear about this. She should give you the courtesy of giving you the time to have a trial and she should explain that to the other bride as well. Hair/MakeUp has been the toughest part for me.

That's not nice. It's pretty unprofessional of her to say all of that to you. She should have told you that she was either unavailable and couldn't do your wedding or said nothing until after you did your trial. Sorry to hear this!

try not to stress too much about this. there are plenty of other vendors to choose from. noone should pressure you to book - that would make me want to walk away!

I gave a deposit without having a trial.
The pressure she's putting on you sucks, but how do you think she'd feel if she waited for you, then she loses you AND the other bride?

No I totally agree.. But don't tell me I have until the end of the month and then give me 24 hours to decide without giving me the option of a trial first when that's not at all what we spoke about.

I totally agree! - you should explain that to her. Most vendors will say 'I currently have someone interested in that date. I can get back to you on X day when the date is released from hold.' or something like that.
Maybe try explaining that you're waiting for your headpiece, or ask her to schedule you for a trial sooner and work the headpiece in later.
Sorry for your inconvenience! It def sucks!

I didn't have my headpiece at the time of my trial but I have total faith in the girl who is doing my hair. She did an upstyle and I loved it but I also want to try half up and half down because after I took my hair down it looked amazing too. She didn't ask for a deposit just had to sign the contract to lock in the date. Try out Dusti of Fire Monkey she is awesome and so worth it!

Dusti did an updo for me too and when I took it out instead of my hair looking like a big frizzy hairsprayed mess I had beautiful soft curls! Booked her on the spot and she now colors and cuts my hair and comes to my house to do it!! Plus her prices are amazing!! You cant get any better than her!!!

I've heard good things about Dusti! Does anyone know if she or someone else is good with down hairstyles??? I'm thinking I want it all or half down.

It sounds like the hairstylist may have been told by the bride that she definitely wants to book her to do her hair, hence the switch in trying to get you to either say yes to her doing your hair. Plus, is she just doing your hair or the entire bridal party? That may be another factor. Just a thought. I say go with another stylist. Good luck.
